Fuel guage not working

Fuel guage went haywire on my k plate sri is this the sender unit packed up . Guage goes right up past full when you swich ignition on and stays up over full . Any help cheers .

what were you doing when it happened?? a few years ago when i was a bit of a looney, i did a handbrake turn and the gauge shot up to the top and wouldnt move.....turned out the float had got stuck at the top. a good old whack of the tank and it free'd off again...

Hi staggy wasnt doing anything started the car one day and just shot right up i have even filled it up with fuel aswell . Will try doing that see what happens . Dont use the car alot ither . Prob gona drop tank and have a look if doesnt work cheers .

Yes did this a few times more so when it had not been used then out the blue would go bk to normal.i seem to see it more when wunt start en a keep tryin it like it was a blast of power that shot it up

i'd say it was your gauge its self faulty on your clocks
you could remove the sender from the tank plug it back in to
the wiring and move the float up and see if the gauge moves.

my sri was the same i tried everthing as said above take the sender out and work it manualy mine was f**ked but i would do the sender first it doesnt take long and dont have to drop the tank down as for the gauge they tend to f**k up quite ofter
