offered for sale is my 1987 vauxhall nova antibes
this car was taken out of storage approx 7 months ago after not being on the road for 8 years, it was totally standard but looking quite tired for its self,
the first thing i did was to get the car back in a road worthy state, i put it in for the mot and it only failed on very minor things, these being it needed a cv boot replacing, one of the rear wheel cylinders was siezed so was replaced and a small patch of welding on the front crossmember, all the work was done and the car passed the mot with no problems
THE CAR HAS TAX AND MOT TILL THE END OF JUNE 2012
since then the car has had alot of transformation, i have replaced the whole front end with brand new mk2 wings, mk2 headlights and indicators, and a genuine mk2 gsi front bumper, then i turned my efforts to the inside
it has now had a mk2 gsi black dash conversion with matching gsi front door cards, the dash works as it should with all switches and loom converted over
the original antibes seats were whethered but the sun from all the years ago so have now been replaced with nova gte seats with no bolster wear or rips, there are a few marks but yet again even the newest ones of these are over 20 years old,
i have fitted gsi side skirts aswell as a mk2 rear bumper
there is also a flushed tailgate with solinoid switch under the dash
the car has been lowered on the rear with 45mm springs and avo coilovers on the front
it has 2 litre front brakes fitted from a cavalier gsi
the wheels are tsw venoms in 15 inch with 195/50/15 tyres fitted all with at least 4mm tread
the car over xmas time had a full top end rebuild which included new head gasket, head skimmed very lightly, valves reground, new cambelt kit fitted aswell as a refurb'd carb
there was also a brand new exchange starter motor fitted and new uprated battery
as mentioned the car is lowered but doesn't rub in the rear arches as have been cut back to fit,
there is very minimal rust on the car the worst being 2 holes, 1 under each of the headlights but unvisible unless under the car, i didnt weld these up as wasnt required for the mot, there was a hole around the petrol cap when i bought the car but i have filled and sprayed this in so nothing to worry about there,
there are a few small scabs just starting to appear on the bottom of the drivers door all in all a good car for the age,
i do also have a few spares which i have collected over the time for the nova which will be included in the sale, including spare head lights, rear lights, cherry bomb exhaust, and another carb, plus more,,,,,,,,,,,
there are a few things about this car which do need addressing,
the paintwork could do with a decent buff to get back to gleaming condition,
over the last week or so i have noticed there is an oil leak which seems to be coming from the cambelt side of engine, i have drove about 2 miles since noticing,
wheels have few skuff marks but straight and suit car very well
there is a stelf shelf in the rear of the car but at the moment is not connected to the stereo in the car as my sub and amps will be removed and are not included in the sale,
odd few dents in the bonnet and also a dent in the passenger side door,
as mentioned about the oil leak, i do not know how suvire it is i just noticed the patch on my driveway, the car can be driven away as still taxed and mot'd but i would suggest this is done at your own risk, i will attempt to look further in to the leak and will update on here as i go, but for now assume that the car comes with the leak
because of this i have set a reasonable reserve, i do no longer need the car as have bought a family zafira so am not looking to swap with another car,
if i was going to keep the car i would keep to my original plan to put the 2 litre redtop engine in and have for a track car but loss of funds mean i cannot
any questions pls ask, the car is also advertised on a well known auction site with loads of pics
