Update.
So I finished work and thought I better get the car running, the lad I bought it off said there was some kind of problem with the engine and it just wouldn't start. It was only the timing out by about half an inch. Glad I got it going will be easier to start the bodywork now I can drive it in and out. Off to meet Bazil in the morning to buy the rear opening windows :D

Big thanks to BAZIL and NOV4_SPORT for the parts and information for the rear opening windows. Not had time to get on my computer yet to upload my pictures. Start rubbing the car down at the weekend I think, still not chosen a colour!

The caps for the front of the plough that cover the screws and however you attach it all together. No I really don't know what colour maybe a white or light cream sort of colour.

and i wouldn't really class dtm mirrors as retro,
NoVaBoOt26- what are you doing wheel wise, i have some opel manta gte alloys referbed in black and i know your going with the whole opel theme
I wasn't going for retro theme as such just what I liked and wanted to be different but not over the top! There mattig wing mirrors not dtm! And wheels are BMW exip wheels 16" with 165/45 tyres I think et 38 but not 100 percent on the tyres and offset I can't remember! Anyway enough about my car it's not my project thread sorry novaboot was just trying to give you some ideas!

glad to hear your going banded steels! Unsure about the centre caps tho, have you tryed spanish or german ebay?
I quite like mine with the standard (non sr) centre caps and i'd love to know if they did opel versions of those. What et have you gone? i have 2x 8j at the moment and getting 2x 9J's made for the rear, although i'm tempted after that to get the 9's and put them on the front and some 10's done for the rear

mine sat on 8j's (with saloon arches) the front and rear just need the lips turned up as the backs catch the arch with weight in it and the fronts the same so i can't go any lower yet, i'm not sure about with hatch arches tho,
heres the centre caps:

What tyre sizes do you recommend?
Calamity Josh
24-10-11, 08:19 AM
They're 185 55 14 kuhmo ecsta's on 8j's. they have a slight bit of stretch and i think i'm going to go lower profile and even more stretch when it comes to it

I brought my two off merris from bretts old corsa gt,
just to amaze you, i bought those rims for a tenner in a scrapyard in 1993 in oxfordshire, and they were taken from a german registered kadett (mk1 astra shape) they were 6j14 & the opel caps were originals too.
i sold them to baxter about 5 years ago with square cracked tyres on.... he used them(and the tyres!!!!), then sold them on to spud[?] and they were eventually sold on to brett, who got them banded...

Hiya mate, yea I am wanting to do the whole upol mid grey thing with them and my bumpers what should i be sanding them with? And where should I buy that upol mid grey from? And I don't have a clue how to put them on. I also need to find someone to put some vinyls on for me on the door pillars and right across the bottom of the doors. Anybody good at this??
SimonTW
11-09-12, 04:55 PM
I will take a picture of how mine were attached later for you. They use small pegs on the side of the car that white plastic clips attach to, then the trims attach to the white plastic clips.
I just cleaned my bumpers, spoilers, door handles etc with white spirit before painting with Upol mid gray
No sanding
You can get the upol paint off eBay mate
I would fit the early bumpstrips as you can paint them too, maybe glue the clips on with tigerseal otherwise you'll have to drill holes for the rivets.

P.S. Clean the paint off the brake pedal cover in the engine bay and the servo mount or get some satin black and silver paint on them. Small things make a big difference.
Also best thing to clean the carbs is petrol. Soak them in it if you can and scrub them with a small brush like a tooth brush.

Popped to the unit today, an thort I would see if I could put my wings on properly with headlights and try my front bumper...I couldn't put my wings on because I forgot to get my wing bolts sprayed which are now at the body shop getting done so thort I would put my headlights on and try the bumper but it won't go on I'm not sure if the car has maybe had a bump not to sure, has anybody got the measurements on what they should be? Maybe with a little bit of a push it might fit but any nova I have had in the past the bumper will just go on straight away no problems. I'm abit gutted really I'm thinking the worst thing I will have to do is put a new front end on which I didn't want to do. Just as I think I'm getting on with my project I hit a massive brick wall :(. Can anybody help me??

Push the wing back so it lines up and do the bolt up
Mines like that and it's a brand new shell and wing

Ye I need to put the bolts in. It was more of the bumper bolts not lining up with the brackets. Ill wait until my bolts are all back and fasten it all in right
Take the brackets off the shell and fit them to the bumper bar first, will be able to get it all lined up better then
