you need to drill a hole that lines up with the bracket that is on the side of the plough mate, take it off and have a look, pretty easy to sort

scott.parker
13-06-13, 09:43 PM
Imo I would screw or cable tie the sides from behind so you can't see it, then put the entire bumper on fully assembled via the bolt on brackets and the two bolts in the inner arches, as there's no way I would drill the best wings..

Is that how they were originally done?

Sounds like a plan, ill have to crack on and have a look not much time before I need to get it motd and stuff.

Can somebody tell me which bit I am meant to cut off under the gear gator so that I can get it into 1st and 2nd because 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse are fine

http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff519/Chris_Hall26/A085886C-A415-4F18-BD1F-D90CA5ECD14E-941-000000BEA5FF2348.jpg

therealnovaboy
14-06-13, 06:42 PM
you need to cut the bit without the hook on it. You need to re set the linkage first so you can get gear 1,2,3,4 and not 5th then you trim it down till you get 5th.

If you cut it to get 1st and 2nd there would be no gate to stop you grabbing reverse by accident.

i love this car and im glad to say ive given a hand to put it together im just gutted we didnt manage to get more done on the 2 ocassions weve been over.

Looking good Chris, yes as said cut the lug off on the left then you'll have to adjust the gear linkage to get all gears, near the white plug ontop of the gearbox selector housing there is a plastic plug just to the right and it will be facing in the direction of the passenger seat, you pull out then put the drill bit in while moving the linkage about until it slots in good, then get a mate to hold the gear lever in correct position and tighten it all up. ;)

How did you sort out the snowplough corners in the end?

Nut and bolts up through the bottom of the plough and corner of the wings where there are already some holes it's not perfect or how I want it right now, it will stay like that until I can see somebody else's setup.

I need a rear bench seat if anybody can help!

Cheers rich, yea wasn't to far away gutted but pretty chuffed with how the engine ran, ideally I would have liked to have run the car in for a few hundred miles or so but just didnt have the time with it only being motd on Thursday. I'm at work everyday this week and havent had time to have a look yet, I'm going to take the carbs off and refurb them and get them re-jetted and set up properly, so I will be taking the alternator off when the carbs are out of the way and putting the new one on. Had a nightmare on the way back aswell got picked up by the AA, set off at 10:30pm and didn't get home until 6am because of another accident on the m1 :( little one slept through it all which is good. Billing was really good though we will definitely be going again hopefully the nova will get there and back without any hiccups and on its own steam lol

Massive sham it didn't make it without the issues mate, but you score 10/10 for effort, most people wouldn't have bothered.
I rushed my old track through an mot and finished it the morning before pv 09, stressful at the time but worth it in the end, tbf I was still working on mine on Saturday morning, I didn't fit the bumpers till Thursday night, had a week of long afternoon /nights to get it how it looked for two days of show lol 9hrs cleaning, and then the tree sap!

So don't feel down, we've all been there, just push on mate.

I remember Billing 2000 when I took my first Sport down with two other mates in their Sports. I had just got mine on the road and it sprung a water leak. I was a little annoyed and then the missus got a little more annoyed as it was her 21st birthday and I had taken her to a car show, oops! She forgave me and we have been happily together for 14 years and married 6 years. She said she hated Nova's and Billing. I have managed to get her to Billing a couple of times since then and she said she will go next year. Also she loves the Spider and likes the other two too :)

Mrs NovaBoot26

I will be going next year but maybe not in such a rush this time. Maybe take the nova out a few times before we go just to make sure. Who knows I might even be in my own nova by then! It was a lot of hassle getting there and back but I did have a nice time once there. Will be well worth a better planned and maybe longer trip next year :)

Haven't done much to the nova since we broke down at billing. Anybody stripped their carbs before and cleaned them up??
Actually washed it today got a couple of pictures aswel, tried to straighten up the front bumper and it's looking a lot better than it was, I really need somebody to tell me how the snowplough is meant to be fitted properly, pictures would be great +rep given, really annoying me how it doesn't sit right :(

They are the same thread but more like the bolts that go in the cill and from inside the car into the wing through the a pillar but if you go to an engineer supplies you should get some I'd think they just open up like a rawl plug so any thick screw will do possibly a bolt even

Just had a read through this thread, top work mate the car looks great :)

cheers mate

They are the same thread but more like the bolts that go in the cill and from inside the car into the wing through the a pillar but if you go to an engineer supplies you should get some I'd think they just open up like a rawl plug so any thick screw will do possibly a bolt even

Spot on, I will try and find something

Dude take a look in my project thread, think the last thing I did was fit my plough, i had to do it a d.i.y way as i didn't have the correct, or right amout of clips etc, and i didn't bot it to my wings, i just screwed and cable tied it to the bumper, then i used the bolts that fix it to the bottom lip of the valance, theres no movement in it at all..

Put a deposit down on something special :D... So might be splitting this if enough interest as I don't want to be left with loads of parts, somebody has already asked for the shell all the panels and the bronze glass. If not enough interest I will keep it :)

If you don't need the money, keep it. You will only regret selling it.

Great work Chris, just read this from start to finish. Shame I was late to the Nova party and never saw this beauty in the flesh. Hopefully get to see it sometime soon though eh? - Ted
