Todays graft, the locking plates were fitted to the transfer box instead of the extra originals.
Fitted the vernier to the inlet cam, just set at standard position for the minute. cut out the hole in the cover so it can be easily adjusted when getting tuned.
Took it down on the trailer to get it steam cleaned off, remove the cutting paste from everything..

Just read this whole thread, you're an example to us all Charlie- every credit to you on every aspect of this build.

The finished car is definitely the best nova of all time, I cant think of any I would rather drool over haha lol

Thrilled that your bringing it to PV, I'm there for the full weekend so I'll see you there for a drool haha :thumb:

Just to re-iterate you only need your license to sign on at Pod, and a helmet if your likely to cross the line over 100mph. I'd certainly fetch your helmet mate!!

See you there!

Maka Glad you like it!!

Havent really had it out for a proper run yet, and as you would expect dont want it to fail in front of a couple of thousand people at Pod, Don't have a helmet yet anyway so may have to borrow one if i run it

Its going to need running in and setting up before it gets a good thrash. I dont want to F**k it up at this stage. I guess the best person to getr to set it up is Specky and I cant get it booked in there before Friday anyway.

See you on Saturday..!!!

What power are you wanting roughly??

What time do you think you will run at pod??
I mean a handful of xe are 13 sec and some let's 12

Unlike specky running massive spec and out right power. Do you think your there in the mid 9secs???

Longdogcharlie
07-06-11, 05:09 PM
didnt really build it to go racing, just to see if it could be done and to put a fookin big smile on my face when driving it on the road, I was just told that specky is the best man to set it up.

I have no idea what time it will pull,

I would be amazed if this was any quicker than a normal fwd let nova up the strip due to the massive extra weight of the 4x4 running gear, round a track you would be looking at a completely different story!

imo

I don't care what anyone says but a 4x4 Nova is still light!

My mate did a 12.6 at York in his pulsar with a header tank full of oil lol and budget tyres, running just over 300
bhp and they're much heavier than a Nova!

they do 13's from the factory though!

and a standard pulsar is 1300kg's and a nova gte about 1000kg's so with the extra weight from the transfer box, larger engine, gearbox, rear running gear etc it wont be far of a 100kg's difference!

I would be very suprised if a 4x4 Nova when setup correctly with that much power didn't hit LOW 12's IMO.

Also isnt a standard GTE 850kg? I would suspect this car is still under a 1000kg.

Found the miss-fire fault, one of the ceramics on a spak plug was cracked, New plugs in, Pulls like a train, next to no wheel spin in the dry, even when brutal with the clutch. Am Chuffed to bits. a liitle mod to do on the rear suspension clearance and the gear linkage to set up properly and should be good for test..

Sorry to hear about your redundancy, not an easy time I'm sure.
I was made redundant 7 years ago after 14 years with the same company, It was the best thing that could have happened when I look back

Longdogcharlie
03-09-11, 04:00 PM
about 1.5 bar.. should be mint with the garrett at 2 bar. Fuelling was slightly lean on the first run, but put it up to 4bar and its sweet..

Mieran
03-09-11, 04:13 PM
power is slightly down for ph3.5 chips and regal say they should be running with 4.5bar fpr

mine made 291 on ph2 (0.95 bar) but every dyno reads differently

Longdogcharlie
03-09-11, 04:16 PM
Like you say I was told it should run about 350ish. but am happy with that for the minute, (with the borrowed Turbo)
needs rods, exhaust manifold, low comp pistons and omex management i think as the next step.

the easy power is where it is now i guess from now on its a money thing..

Is that boost pipe going under the front valance not going catch on the ground?

Not sure edd. It is going to be close. is very little room at that side with the pipe going to the air filter. If it catches will have to have a rethink.

would it not be possible to notch into the front valance and box it out so the pipe sits up into it higher
