Hey all,

I have decided to give my nova sport a bit of t.l.c over the winter ready for the new year.

I got my sport in Aug 2006, it had be restored by the previous owner gary, it was in really good condition when i first got the car, although not completly finished i was very happy with the car.
It didnt need much to finish it, a nice set of wheels, lower the suspension and a few little touches to make it mine really.

I also did a bit of work on it over 2007, re sprayed inside the car, and cleaned the underside of the car cause the waxoil had decome very dirty and was letting the car down so stripped it all off and put more behind the the panels where it wouldnt been seen.

Also done a few bits over 2008/09, had a full stainless steel system made up sorted out the interior, just swapped some of the sun bleached seats for better condition ones, correct early spec wipper motor, re sprayed the underside of the car, replaced the valve stem seals and tidied up the engine/ bay and general messed about with it lol.

This is the old fuse box, which i kept melting fuses in, got so bad i couldnt get a fuse to work in it so changed it for a new fuse box i got from bazil.

All the replacment panels, two front wings two doors and tailgate are going to be accid dipped re coated shortly, so they will be just like new

welding on the door looks good just make sure you red lead /wax oil the inside too.
p.s what you doing with the old pannels.

Its ok cause the panels are all getting acid dipped and re primed all at the same place so it will be like brand new door mate, iam not sure yet, most likely sell the bits off to help fund the car lol.

little update.

Took the drivers side sill to bare metal, due to surface rust, it was ground back to bare metal to remove the rust and given several coats of zinc primmer, a few coats of filler primmer and normal primer, sadly no pic as yet.

also had a little parcel arrive today from opc.

Not much progress as yet, other that collecting some more parts, the all ilusive brand new chrome backed headlight, which arrived yest, and bnib correct spec vauxhall badge.

The weather and everything has slowed things down a lot.

Little update,

Decided to start on the rear passengers side arch cause i have never been happy with the lip, and it hanging down and the welds on the lip, anyways i will let the pics do the talking.

Today iam going to start to straighten out the lip and mad sure the metal under the paint is as good as it looks (no rust), if it doesnt flatten out nicely or looks gash then iam going to cut it out and put in a new section of metal.

Greg, I've been told this week that spl ( that were the only company in the uk that offered E-coat dipped priming ) are not able to do it anymore, this may also affect Iain too.

There was tears, when i did it but hey,bazil i have a full set of decals to go on the car, they were part of a groupe buy orginized by rich a few years ago, they are exact copies taken from original 3m decals which rich had, so thats all taken care of.

Bazil, yes the spl situation leaves me a bit stuck as i was going to use them to strip and clean the doors wings etc, but looking into media blasting the parts, either soda or plastic bead blasting, i need to do more research into it.

Greg, thank you, yeh its pretty clean, but using this time of year to make it even better as there has always been a few niggles with the car, so iam going to put them right, iam glad i have given you some inspiration/ideas for yours, iam sure its going to look amazing when yours is finished matey.

Well just back from the garage and its not looking good, the back arch has had a repair section but on, and i mean on top of the old arch, by the bodyshop the previous owner trusted to do. I have removed the repair section, i will let the pics do the talking...................................

Yeh its strange as the drivers side is a full quarter done right, but for the history of the car i know of, it was sold to a customer, the dealer bought it back, sold again, the dealer bought it back and gave it a repaint and a tidy up, iam sure it was sold to the owner before me, after being in the showroom/ forecourt for a few years who also had work done on it, so iam guessing its the prevous owner who asked for the arch to be fixed.

Not much progress really, i cut out the rot on the inner arch, and after trying to get a repair panel for the inner arch i used an outer section and cut it to fit.

Now i know a full quarter would be the best idea, but i just dont have the money in the budget to get one so will use a repair section, but put it in right.

lol, right progress is that the back quarter is all welded up now, its had two skims of filler on it, going to get it sanded down today and see how its shaping up.

A big thanks goes out to kev (16v nova kev) for coming over with his fancy tool, a jogeler (sp) so the repair section could have a step put in it and tucked behind the panel, also for giving me a hand with the car, huch appreciated matey.

Since my camera decided to die, kev took pics with his phone, so when he has send them over or uploaded them then you will be able to see the progress.

Yeh i hate leaving something half done, or moveing onto other areas of the car, so going to stick with it till its finished.

Iam hoping to have it painted pretty soon, just as soon as the doors and wings are ready them i can get the car to paint dates tbc.

Little update on the car,not done a lot on the car of late, but the rear quarter panel is nearly finished, i have sprayed the two inner quarters with dinitrol brown cavity wax, along with the chassis legs and fron inner chassis legs that are in the engine bay.
I used about a litre on each side of the car

Its hard to see when its in primer, but nearly finished the crease in the panel above the sill line.

Not updated this for a while as other things have take up the time but as it stands the now the car is nearly ready for primer and paint, iam hoping there will be some progress soon, just been mega busy with work and things but the nova has been left in the back ground of late.

The bumpers have been painted, and all the parts are cleaned and ready to go back on when the shell is all painted up.

Oh and i have a new break set up ready to bolt on to, i will get some pics of the bumpers and brakes and post them up today mate.

It a set of four pot wilwood dynalight callipers and 280mm discs, they were in need of a really good clean so shot blasted them and repainted them in metalic black to match the irmscher cam cover and airbox, with polished letters and then a few coats of clear laquer

Bit of an update folks, the shell is painted now, its just the doors, wings, tailgate and under arches to be painted.

I cant wait to start building the car back up again and get it polished.

Thanks buddy, yeh you cant beat fresh paint, iam hoping so, its looking on target so far all going well it will be there.

As bazil was saying it was only a few bits of paint work that was letting the car down, other than that it was really good, and all the parts to go onto the shell are either brand new or refurbished original parts, i just need to make sure i dont damage any of the paint putting it back together lol :cry:

Hello all, i have not been on line for ages but i have been working away on the nova getting it put back together, i got the car back the thursday night before billing so i didnt manage to take it down but i didnt want to rush putting it back together, after all the hard work that was put in by the bodyshop, so i have been putting the car back together when i have time, either some nights after work or at weekends.

I must thank both olly (sp) and 16v Nova Kev, togther they are M-tech, the car is amazing and the pictures dont do the car justice i must say.

I decided to fit my opening rear quarter windows in bronze, and have also fitted bronze tinted glass to the doors and tailgate so it all matches.

Its just an irmscher show plate i got a few years ago mate.

I painted the bumpers "U-pol" mid grey, they have come up verry good, the paint comes highly recomended by me lol.

Not much of an update, but cleaned up the engine bay, and still to do a bit of tidying up on the underside of the car, the struts let the car down a bit, so i will either re paint them or ideally get new ones as the rears are showing there age a little, but booked in for an mot on monday so looking forward to going a drive in it lol.

Good news it passed it mot on monday no problems at all and had my tracking and allignment done at the same time cause i had fitted not bottom ball joints and track rod ends.

The nova now shares its mot anniversary with my birthday lol.

A little update on the nova......
Got the car back last fri afternoon from the paintshop, after have a little dent in the drivers door fixed and a little touch up on the top of the boot lid.

Since having the car painted and built back up the door seals were rubbish and was letting in a little water when i was washing the car, so after a little bit of searching i managed to get hold of a pair of new old stock door seals for the car.

After wrestling the new rubbers into the door frames iam pleased to say the car does not let in a single drop of water now :cool:

So now the car is back in my garage i can start to get back into buiding the car back up, first up is the tailgate for a few passes with the meguires DA G220v2 and a few different grades of polishing compounds and polishes, before a few coats of DoDo juice wax .

Then onto Re fitting my Zender rear spoiler, i didnt want to drill any holes in this bootlid, so i bonded it on and left it over night.
