Thanks for the comments folks !

Just a little update for today folks, have been busy with work so not had much time to work on the nova, but i have polished the roof and painted the sunroof suround matt black and have been buying a few parts for the car.

the roof after its finale machine polish and a few coats of wax, and the s,r painted black.

http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/8901/pict1777.jpg

Powerflex bushes for the rear beam, front tie bars and tca's
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/9641/pict1793q.jpg

I also bought a filter king fpr/ filter with 85mm glass bowl.

Then came the choice of where to fit it lol, i ended up making a bracket from stainless steel in work so i could mount it on the fire wall and have it sitting straight.

http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/8706/imag0110b.jpg

And painted it polar white so it looks a bit more factory

http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6990/pict1779r.jpg

All bolted in i just need to get the fuel lines made up to suit now.

Are they flo flex lower spring mounts?

How happy are you with your bumpers after you sprayed them in upol mid grey? Do they look too dark?
I need to decide if to do mine

That's serious love everything, so clean. :-)
Quick question on the rear spring upper insulator do you have the curved or chamfered bit at the top or bottom as I just got a set and am going fitting mine soon .
Thanks

NOV4_SPORT
25-12-11, 11:25 AM
Edd the bottom spring mounts were on the car when i bought it years ago, but iam sure they are the same as flow-flex ones.

As for the bumpers, the paint looks spot on imo, i will try get you a pic of one of the bumpers out in the day light to show the shade for you, but its the closest thing to factory mate.

Thanks for the good comments folks.

Small update on the nova folks.

I decided to give the front end suspension and steering components a refresh recently which turned into me buying new bilstein dampers and all new bushes and bearings and having the powder coating re done ! flol.

so any way here is what is was like before, which wasnt that bad, only a light amount of over spray from the respray and light damage over the years since it was first done.

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/9466/pict1872.jpg

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1283/pict1875x.jpg

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/4316/pict1877o.jpg

Got to love cable ties lol
http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/3224/pict1879.jpg

While the bits were off at the powder coaters, i dismantled my dampers and sand blasted the top mounts spring cups etc

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2231/pict1887.jpg
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/1522/pict1890.jpg

Then painted them all and fitted new bearings and spring dampers

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/9291/pict1904j.jpg
http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/4622/pict1906.jpg

Also blasted the hubs and painted then aswell
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1264/pict1900p.jpg

Then i called into the powder coaters and my way home from work the next week to collect all the parts.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/9210/pict1896.jpg

NOV4_SPORT
30-01-12, 08:28 PM
Fitted new bushes to the traction control arms and used new bolts to secured then to the car
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/9754/pict1903.jpg

The new bilstein dampers all built up with the top mounts etc, and powder coated springs to match the rear ones.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/1056/pict1910.jpg

Also finished painting the rest of the brake lines on the car, still some areas of the white paint to touch up and steering rack boots to change but still.

http://img808.imageshack.us/img808/1462/pict1944.jpg
http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/1660/pict1943.jpg

Now the front end it all built back up with new bolts etc.

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8387/pict1933x.jpg
Not bad for a set of brakes i salvaged off of "H1GTE"
http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/1332/pict1936.jpg
http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/3695/pict1935r.jpg
http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/7954/pict1938.jpg

Then fitted the new rear dampers also got the rear dust covers from bazil as the dampers never came with any so got a pair of old ones from him and cleaned them up and covered them in blue heat shrink so they match the fronts now, and sand blasted the metal caps at the to and powdercoated them in work the only blue they had lol, big thanks to allan for these, saved the day once again lol.

Thank you nick, if anything its your cars aswell as others that give me inspiration and ideas to make me build the nova to such a level of detail and take so much time to make things as good as it/ i can make it.

I agree with what you are saying about ytring to move, dare i say "scene" on with respects to the level of detail and care taken to building top quality cars.

Also thanks everybody for you comments.

Only a small update this week as i have done my back in and off work till it heals up so i only finished the fuel pump bracket, that i made up in work a few weeks ago, that will be fitted to the car when iam able to lol
The pump is fully insulated in thick rubber sheeting to stop vibration and also because the pump's earthing point is in the mounting bracket that is welded to the pump, so have secured a wire to run off the pump for the earth.

The pump is a facet silver top fuel pump.

Yes i knows this, it was in a unit fire and someone found it in a scrappers and posted the pics on here, i was asking what id missed about the brakes?

Almost forgot about the confusion on the brake calipers lol.

Well kev had posted pics of "H1GTE" in the scrap yard all burned out, the yard is not to far from my work so thought i would go along and check it out for myself, while talking to the yard owner i noticed the front brakes didnt look like vxl ones a closer look reveiled that they were 280mm Wilwood callipers, so i asked how much for them and the price he said i nearly bit his hand off lol.

So i took the callipers and discs and off home i went, i stripped them all down and found that under the slightly smoke damaged paint the all the pistons were free moving and there was no damage to the seals at all, so took them to work shot blasted them and re painted them at home, cleaned up the discs ordered new pads and brake lines, they bled up fine and work amazingly.

So like allan has said atleast one part of "H1GTE" lives on !

Well not much of an update as i have fooked my back and off work and in mega pain so have only been able to do a few bits to the car.

First up was to mount my new Facet Silver top fuel pump and new fuel piping for it, i made the bracket to hold the pump ages ago but only getting round to fitting it now lol.

I bonded it onto the fuel tank as didnt want to drill any holes in the bodywork that i didnt need to so here goes

Also allan (Bazil) Kindly donated me a brand new screen washer bottle to go along with my new header tank, and the proper "ac delco" black cap from his old sr, after i had given it a little clean it came up like brand new, Thanks again buddy your a star !

Ahh, thought they were, i had them on my XE track car, way cheaper the magnacore stuff and imo just as good, as there quad core, and very heavy duty stuff, i fitted them combined with NGK iridiums and it was a massive improvement on fire up and running etc..

Hey folks just a little update.

I turned my attention to the engine bay as was letting the car down imo, so replaced all the coolant hoses with ones that i had from a low milage sport that a friend of mine broke a few years back so cleaned them all up and they have come out really well, plus i painted the water pipe that runs round the back of the engine and also changed the thermostat and also got a brand new twin cored alloy radiator off bazil so a big thanks to him for that ! (cheers Allan !) and flushed the whole coolant system, also gave the whole area some attention, cleaned and repainted a few bits and pieces

I wanted to change the cd player in the glove box so i could use my i pod, so when it was out i remade the panel that houses the cd player and wanted to give the flocking kit that allan had very kindly given me, out on the inside of the glove box, it looks so much better now than the black carpet i had before, also i have run the ipod lead so it just comes out inside the ash tray so everything is hidden away and is neat and tidy !

Good times !
Yes i used three new plastic blocks that push into the front panel for the bumper to screw into, and new side mounting brackets that go onto the wings, i picked these up over the last few years or so
But the "L" shape bumper bar brackets were just shotblasted and powder coated black because they were only a few years old.

Been mega busy with work but got my wheels back from the powder coater about three weeks ago ! and the guy has done an amazing job on them , with the powder i got for him, as i got a friend to mix up the correct shade of powder to match the car body, also got new decals from compomotive for the wheels as well and painted the center caps cause of a few cips in them.

Two coats of polish and three coats of dodo juice wax to seal and protect the finish from break dust, inside the wheel and on the face of them.

Just read the whole thread, exceptional build, some really nice details. I love the factory look green brake pipes, don't get me wrong I like the shiny kunifer look , but the green is so much more original a really nice touch, must try to get to billing next year for some inspiration, cannot wait to get on with mine now.

Well here goes a very long over due update lol

First off back in may time i had saved up enough moneys to have a stainless steel four branch manifold built to replace the janspeed one that had cracked and seen better days so first off i took a template of the flange and got a peice of 10mm thick s/s and profiled it at home ! a few nights latter and it was done but wrecked the drill and totally p1ssed off the neghbours lol

http://imageshack.us/a/img803/57/imag0355m.jpg

Then it was time to have my decals fitted to the car, along with new badges. I used a local company to fit them who "specialise" in vinyl wrapping But they turned out pretty bad, with finger prints under them ,wrinkles and didnt follow the lines of the car very well, i was mega fecked off to say the least but with only a week or so till billing i just left it and planned to have them re done wheni got back home.

Over the next few months i started to change and address a few bits of the car that needed doing like a set of regular use mats, chrome parts , new boot seal and also looking at getting better breaking, so replaced the m/c and servo from allan's silver gsi which made a massive differnce to the brakes both peddle feel and stopping power !
£10 halfrauds mats with a dealer sport patch i had lying about to keep my Vxl mats for show

A few Weeks latter on i took the decals off the two sides of the car ready to take it down to newcastle to have them re fitted bye some one who really knew what they were doing, so on the recomendation of mark- novacabrio off i went, happy knowing it was going to turn out right, and i cant thank him and also the guy who fitted them enough, he also applied a thick clear laminate on the front panel for stone protection

Then i got a pair of Grey parcelshelf supports and painted them vxl brazil brown, i think they look much better than the brown material i had covered them with a few years ago, and go quite well with my black covered shelf the holds 6/9 speakers and have kept my unfaded brown shelf in the loft and want music more than the original shelf lol

A week or so latter a decided to fit the lowering springs i got off Nick J a few weeks before. They are -80mm rear and -60mm front springs i had powder coated blue to match the stickers on the bilstein shocks, it was graeme's (sport) idea to go with the blue and iam glad he sugested it, i just didnt know what colour to go for lol cheers mate !

The new springs are much stiffer than the old ones i had and now the car handles much better and i dont get such a spongy feeling when cornering
