C20NE/C20SEH
The 2.0L 8V engine from large model cars including Cavaliers and Astras. The C20NE is the lower powered model of the two putting out ~115 bhp as opposed to ~130 bhp from the C20SEH. The C20SEH was available in the 2.0L 8V Astra GTE and Cavalier SRi. The C20NE engine was seen in Cavaliers and Astras, but lower power output meant it was used in lesser spec models.

A little info I found.

Cams, compression, map was different on the SEH from the NE. For N/A power go for the SEH if you're thinking of turboing the NE is a better basis due to lower compression.

I personally, after experiencing all the mentioned in a nova, would use a 1.6 8v.The 2litre 8v is about as good as a good strong gte nova engine i thought.Theres a lot of hassle in fitting the 2l compared to the 1.6.And for 15bhp extra on a 1.6,i just couldnt justify doing it.That said, the 2l 8v was much better on handling than my xe was.So i would get the 1600 and play with that, well thats what im doing myself anyway!

My experiences of a 1600 8v were good.

It's not that quick, but can put your foot down in 5th at 50, and get to 70 quickly.

Was a nice engine to drive on the motorways etc.

Afew lads run seh engines, and they like them.

30bhp more, and alot more torque.

Also, a full 2l 8v can be had in local scrap yards for £80~

Seh on a F13Cr with a 1.7Gm diesel flywheel and a Nova GTE clutch.

Will only do 115ish but will get there in a hurry! Plus is fairly straight foward to fit as you use standard nova gear box and shafts etc, you just need a 2ltr engine mount (i have one)

If it were me, I'd go for the SEH. The engine is great in the Cav an that is like 300kg heavier than a Nova. Bulletproof, reliable, cheap to service and decent power and torque.

I got one recently for £100 with some extra bits too, so a right bargain.
