cheers mate yeah it sounds ok mate still need the exhaust fitted properly but getting there slowly :thumb:
Nice one mate, it must feel good to hear it alive lol
Iirc most folk use the corsa b rack to keep the nova steering wheel and indicators iirc, are you using an aftermarket box for the adjustment or a speed sensor?
scorge01
06-11-11, 01:47 PM
yeah mate sure was quite happy that it runs :)
yeah i know but using a boss and richbrook steering wheel also like the idea of newer indicator stalks got the whole lot either way.
using an aftermarket adjuster mate there only about 30 quid
Nice to see some more progress on this fella, worked on it a couple times when wilson had it. Was a nice car then so looking forward to seeing it when finished again :thumb:

18-11-11, 09:31 AM
Cheers mate well I'm actually getting all the original nuts and bolts for the car acid dipped and zinc plated with the yellow zinc. Can you still buy new original nuts and bolts?
LEWI007
18-11-11, 10:13 AM
Not sure mate i think Vauxhall might sell them for use on other cars like the insignia and astra VXR Etc.. and they will propably have all sizes if they do so you could use them on a Nova.
But ive never heard of anyone buying new bolts from vauxhall before so either its never been done, Ive never heard of it being done, or it CANT Be done lol
Get in touch with them n find out mate.

Also after buying a jp performance 2.5" turbo back system off of Shaun off of here last October I finally after many unanswered calls txt's that weren't replied to received a back box that looks to have been made by a blind 5 year old and the rest hasn't came once again he stops replying fairly pissed off the now with him! So not to sure what todo since paid so long ago and the item is defo not as described :(
So been speaking to nova rick on mig and he's pricing me up a full 3" system and gonna get bk to me :)

PM me a price on the bare shell mate
oh ho, didnt think you would be back :D
Ive also asked him for an itemised price list the other day.
scorge01
21-02-12, 07:33 AM
I'm wantin 1500 for shell with all pannels or would break if enough interest. Know it sounds expensive but the bare shell alone cost me 4k with the pannels and paint then would sell rest after that and obviously the buyer would have option of what they wanted from it,
Not expecting it to sell quickly and please no slagging off at the price I already admit its steep for a shell.

Hi bud, glad you decided to keep it! Don't make the same mistake i did lol
I bought the interior off another guy on here, cant remember his name but someone else might as he had a pretty hi spec nova. I know it was trimmed by MJ interiors though.
Rick Draper
29-06-12, 02:58 PM
It was me that you bought the interior off.
I sent the standard roof lining and a load of alcantara to a local trimming place nd they knocked it up for me. Pretty easy job by all accounts.

Cheers mate, i prefer a GSI with vinyal brakes up the colour a bit.
Handles were off the rear doors of a Vectra completly flush fitted, although i regreted not colour codeing them.
As said its currently sorned, i sold it to guy in Bathgate who was an original PNG member but never saw it again.

03-01-13, 10:01 PM
Yeah know what you mean iv always said I would complete the car and if I thought it needed them then fit them then as easier to fit than remove :)
An I did think they were rears due to no locks, I was thinking the insert part colour coded and just the actual handle left the origional black would have gave it the nova look mabbe?
Ah nothing worse I'm same with my old silk violet Gsi want it back sooo much just don't have a clue where it is :(

So think that's it will need to weld the plate on after tea an jobs a good one :) unless any one see's a problem I don't because never done this before
I think it would look much neater if you extend the cutout to match the intercooler? Also drill the holes to centralise the radiator before repainting. I would also double check the upper inside of the crossmember around original rad mounts/drain holes whilst your in their for rot as this was something that was missed on A6VXL when converted and we had to fix later.

19-01-13, 10:27 PM
Hi mate I see what your saying about it being neater if I cut back further to the width of the cooler but if I do that it would be as far back as the rad goes and when the engine was fitted didn't seem like there was much room to move the rad further back for the turbo?
Also checked the upper side of the lower pannel in area's suggested and seems to be clean enough gonna give it all a rub down and paint with redoxide tho to be sure :)

Hi mate yeah got it sitting abit better then removed it again and painted red oxide in the full front crossmember and left it to dry then will be welding the plate in one nyt next week and then that just leaves a little bit of the fins on the bumper to come off but will be getting the bodyshop to do this as want it done neat and in noticeable
Cheers mate Cana wait to get a looky oh your one as well should come together quickly once welding is done aswell they might see the road about the same time :)

I think you misunderstood my comment mate...... I meant make the cutout longer lengthways so it matches the cooler. If you run a normal nova radiator it will need to go forward slightly and be centralised as that will give you the clearance you need. Below is the finished picture of A6VXL crossmember after all mods needed to suit which shows the repositioned holes for the radiator mounts should you need them for reference. Hope this helps......

As you can see with all parts in situ the intercooler fills the cutout and looks very neat it doing so. Thats what Id aim for fella as theirs no point compromising a good build now!........

Ah yeah know what you mean now :) will have to make another plate up but as you say would be worth it when done :)
Also I see you have cut quite far back towards the engine does the rad fit behind there ok without touching the turbo? Also do you have any pics of the turbo clearance? Also how far did you move the rad? As this is the only part that still gets me as never done it before or had a close look of a decent job

I dont think I have any pics of Rad/turbo clearance but their was plenty. If you look at were the new holes have been drilled in relation to were the tie bar bolts/front of the panel are it should give you a vague idea of approximate measurements if you measure your own up etc. Id also read Simps guide in articles as it shows all you need when fitting a c20let/f28 into a nova including radiator movement and so on mate.

Ah cheers il have a looky bud rests easy had it running already but removed to tidy up as wasn't as neat as wanted it,
Thanks for the help mate
the closest thing to the rad on the turbo is the compressor housing and (which i had a problem with) is the coolant return off the turbo. ive got the roose hoses but the angle the fitting came out would foul my rad. i gave it a tweak and its ok now.
Cheers mate yeah it always helps to have a bit of inspiration when your building one you got a nova yourself mate?
Yeah definately, its easy to get fed up and to lose confidance and inspiration - im familiar with that, ha ha! I had a white GTE about 11 years ago, but have recently got the bug again, after owning/restoring a mk2 Xr2, a widebody Mitsubishi Starion Turbo, and a Nissan S14 200SX - ive decided i want something a bit old skool so im looking at getting/building a Nova again! (Famous last words.....!) Id love to do a C20LET but wont really have the funds to do it all in 1 go, and i want to use the car while i slowly build it (if you know what i mean) so i mite go the route of buying a road ready mk2, maybe a basic 1.2 and upgrade all the brakes/suspension etc as this can be done relatively easily, and then drop a redtop in once i have time to do the change and the said engine lol! 11-12years ago, the redtop/turbo conversions werent quite as common, and were alot more expensive than thye are now - otherwise i would have loved to have done it then. A friend had C20LET in his mk2 and it was absolutely awesome - 1 of the nicest/quickest cars ive been in (and im a mechanic/technician for a raceteam lol!)
Anyhow, good luck with the build mate, itl be great to see once its all done!

Holly Jesus you seem to have your hands on some tidy motors mate :) but you do a nova as there getting rarer and parts are getting expencive if you do all work apart from engine will save a lot of hassle in future and atleast will just leave the conversion to do :)
Cheers mate :)
Yeah thats the plan, im looking for a running mk2 now, and then ill fit brakes/suspension once ive got the car, then when i wana do the conversion, i can do any repairs/strengthening etc and hopefully have a tidy car to play with. There arent too many decent mk2's around at the mo, they seem to be either mint and stupid money, or cheap and a complete pile of poo...! I dont mind doing a bit of fabrication/tidying up, and anything mechanical is fine.

Nah it was me stretching reaching over the engine to piss about with the throttle bodies, removed and refitted but the trumpets are a pain in the **** because the throttle cable bracket fixes on to the lower trumpet bolts and there's not much room for hands, spanner and nuts down there.

Check his breaking thread, I'd assume he's selling it as everything else is going/gone
I don't think it's available as he told me that he plans to use it on his m3. Although I guess money talks!

Very nice mark iirc the s40 can run individual coil pack so gives you the option to do away with unsightly needs and edis packs in the bay and you can get the standard l piece back on with a bit of modding love the mo5s btw
