No one mate, someone who gives me a cheap quote may give you an expensive one and vice versa. If it's an unmodifed car or one with minor mods then check out Elephant or Admiral as they gave me the best quote when I first started. They also have a list of mods to pic from if you've been modifiying so getting a quote won't be hard.

But no harm will be done if you ring up many insurers. Only then will you get the best prices.

Also it may be worth adding your mum/dad/more experienced driver as a second driver to save a few quid.

And if you can afford it, Pass Plus might be good. It may cost you £150 and only save you £100 on your insurance, but if it saves you £100 for the first 3 years each time then its worth doing. Check with the insurance company first though.

Only counts for your first year as far as I know, I didn't even get asked when I applied for my 2nd year insurance, where as everywhere else wanted to know when I was applying first time round!

PS direct line and quinn were cheapest for me, quinn are actually surprisingly good on mods too but were not cheapest for standard once i got off of a provisional license.

i found that with quinn the quoted me about 3500 for a standard 1.0l nova was only a online quote and not 100% but still

it's quite possible that they do quote you badly when they were best for me, different circumstances, also I wouldn't be expecting that to halve for first years insurance at 17!

ive had a couple on online quotes around 1600 so got some hope i might try classic car insurance as apparently that lowers it but soon ill be phoning everywhere to see wot happens fun fun fun :)

classic car will be very limited mileage, either 3 or 5k max, and they will look at it more closely than usual. 1600 is pretty good for a first year at 17 on anything tbh, mine was just over 900 at 20

that's about as cheap as you get for a first year driving, even at 20
