All posted copy straight over from Rat-look.com but I know how much some of you loved to hate my old one so thought Id share this one with you as well lol

Well after much pondering , been messed around and hard work hunting down the perfect car for me to get back on the road again after 7 months :eek that's one more month longer than I did without a car due to a driving ban a few years ago :doh
I finally found a Nova again :D

Stats:
Nova is burgundy 1.2 carb merit. It recently had another 1.2 carb engine converted into it which has only done around 35k but i will give you the old engine so the buyer can change the engine codes over if they wish to do so.. Came out of a nova off here.
It's also had a new alternator and starter motor fitted and runs like a dream .
The car does have a full set of gsi 3 spokes but they are bald so i had to put stealies on so it was legal. they will be going with the car.
Goodbits/Mods etc...
Gsi front bumper in original grey with crack in middle.
Gsi side skirts in original grey.
Gsi rear window surrounds.
Full Gsi interior other than dash. e.g front & rear seats with headrests drivers seat arm has worn away a bit, front and rear gsi door cards, gsi door cappings all in black.
Gsi stearing wheel with red ring.
Gsi 3 spokes with center caps all with very legal tyres... tyres are not that old.
Gsi top tint windscreen.
Electric windows.
Ashley Competition exhaust system straight through onto a 1.6 mani and 1.4 downpipe. 4-2-1 i think.
Gsi clocks ...petrol gauge and everything works fine other than oil dial because you need the sensor.
Just had new alternator.
Just had new starter.
Bay, boot and underside is solid.
Sat on gmax lowering springs. sits nice.
De badged boot.
Got about 6 month M.O.T ish... flew through last M.O.T
Tax runs out on 1st of jan 10
Colour coded mirrors
Got lots of paperwork. History etc...
2 Prev owners i think.
GSi petrol cap
The headunit, amp, wiring kit, speakers, tweeters Will be coming out of it and going into my next car as them alone come to a couple of hundred.
Bad bits etc...
Arches are rusty.
Doors have some rust.
And the odd little other bits nothing major as the shell itself is solid this is just cosmetic crap .
The odd tiny dint here and there but as said the car where it matter is solid and would be ideal for an engine conversion.

It wont becoming with the GSI interior because I've exchanged it for the guy to put tax on the car instead :lol might think am mad but I've already got a full GSI interior from my old Nova so id rather have the tax now than bother trying to sell the interior to make my money back to pay for it

Had the day off work so I could take the 45min trip to Oldham to collect my Nova - First thing I did was put my GSI Nova seat in so I could drive it home :lol Then went straight up the field to park it along side my old Nova

Ran out of light by the time we put the matt black GSI front and rear ( the old one wasn't a real GSI bumper but it is now :P ) and painted the wing mirrors satan black so couldn't take any pictures of the days work :'(

Then we got stuck in with changing the windows including all the GSI window trim ( which only came on the GSI novas :P ) sprayed the GSI sideskirts matt black stickers on the back window passanger seat with new seat covers and I found a set of red Nova SR door cards hidden away in my stash of Nova parts in the barn :lol so decided instead of the GSI door cards am doing to be different this time and use these ones :fawkyeah all will come clear in the future :hmm So because we was so busy doing all this as well as changing the front steelies due to the tracking been WELL OUT the tyres where now illegal :rofl job for tomorrow - I only had time to take a few quick pictures on my way home of the finished product so far

Almost forgot just as me and Will came to an end Ste_Nova nipped up the field to see how we had got on and wired up the back speakers for me because the previous owner had took all his speakers out and head unit leaving no speakers connect up at all meaning no music :doh So after locking up the field with my speakers wired up but no head unit I head to my Mum and Dads where the Fiesta is and chucked me head unit in plus filling my belly with a Sunday roast :chill
Still needs a few touchs on the outside but due to time scale and needing a car in my life after 7 months of walking :blah :rofl so lot's more updates to come over the next few weeks :tu

I actually didn't mind all the negative comments that was been throw at me infact I think you really cleaned the thread up because it was showing just how childish some of the members on the forum really are sometimes and was giving the forum a very bad name :roll:

Even though I was banned which I found funny as f*ck because I bet I was the only person to get banned and non of the other members who had broken the forum rules more than once in my thread well before I got booted didn't even get a warning :roll:

Oh well the only thing I have left to say to a certain member who said I was a fool and that I couldn't argue this fact - Actually I think you will find your the fool because you was acting like a 6 year old child thinking he was really clever and hard been a keyboard warrior which in total just made you look like a fool not me :p you know who you are :thumb:

Due to the F1 starting again this weekend and the weather been crap on Saturday I didn't bother getting off my **** and doing much this weekend
but
due to it been Mothers day after the F1 I went and payed a visit to my Mummy :D who did me a new stencil while I was there :gheyer So I decided to nip up the field and get me spray cans out and do a bit of tidying up on the paint work

A went for a Decepticon logo for two reasons the Decepticons are the bad guys and well I seem to be a bad guy in the eyes of most Nova owners :fawkyeah and because I always route for the bad guys :chill

finally had enough of looking at the red door cards today so when I got home from work I took them off and brought them into the house with me

Then got round to masking up the grey leather bit at the bottom and the red platic handles/holder

forgot to take pictures of the first coat of paint I put on because I couldn't make me mind up if I should put another coat of paint on or not because you could still see the pattern threw the new colour but in the end I decided it just wasn't dark enough for my liking so another 3 coats went on till I was left with theses

Under the hoodies the seats are GSI seats mate so there is no chance a spray can is going anywhere near them :lol plus the pattern is totally different to the ones on the door cards so wouldn't look the same

wwmnw I was bored of hearing only VWs should be given the rat look along with the only VWs should be given the euro look - Hence why I decided to do the rat look to a Vauxhall 2 years ago just like the first person who didn't own a VW made there car euro style

saloonmad I think the paint would come off onto your cloths but only if you didn't leave them to dry for at least 24hr hours

Hmmmm little bit harsh? he had some good input? I dont really like the rat scene but dont slate it at the same time. You should do whatever you want to you car whenever you want to. I think novas are sadly becoming all the same nowadays.....however you have been slightly pethetic on your rat forum....i will come up to you and tell you what i think at pvs or what ever show you will be taking it to...like wise i would hope you would do to mine...im not beating around the bush and not scared to accept other peoples cars. Dont slag us off and cry about it on your site though...

p.s. Doing things like not declaring engine swaps etc is all very well.....if you want to be a criminal....im sure there are loads of people who do it but me and most other people on png actually have the balls to declare it. :thumb:

yeah, it was done oap style. it ended up with rspb and national trust stickers, 13 inch std wheels, and a 80's tape deck. it came from a 87 year old woman who'd had it from new. i slammed it and fitted a 2.0 8v. hence oap+

muzzy the answer to your question is yes mate I do have an over all idea of the plans for the car - Basically last time my plan with the Black Nova was to build a GSI Hoodride rat hence the reason it had the roof rack and the rusty bonnet along with the matt black paint job ect - The reasons I used beer stuff on my roof rack is because I am a drivers mate during the day delivering beer and you find with a lot of the VW hoodriders they use things they do for a living such as there job or hobbies on there roof racks - If you know what I mean ?

So the plan this time is to do something different as i've done the hole Hoodride rat look and so am going to build a Track rat look Nova along with my cruising past and other hobbies such as the Super Nintendo ( plus the fact no one has ever put one in a car before that I know of because it was the Playstation and Nintendo 64 that was the first to be put into modified cars if my memory is correct ? ) built into the look of the car if you know what I mean ?

Am sure there is still a lot of people that aint got a clue what am talking about and just think am totally crazy and should be shot :tard:

imo you just cant make a proper rat out of a mk2, or any other 'modern' car with the big bumpers etc.
for ratting a nova i'd use an early mk1.

i just dont like the current rat scene, it's getting too popular, and there are a lot of bandwagon ratters out there. just because it can look cool, doesnt mean it looks cool on any car.

Dude have you ever heard of stripping a car? I know you don't really care about a good job on the paint, but if you remove parts instead of tapping them up you get a much better finish and job.

The roof is still black and is staying black - The GSI bumper has a crack in it lol but if you thought that was a waste of bumper god help you all when you see the new update :p

Today I decided it was time to replace the GSI front bumper

Also the car aint been painted to be a car that I have to worry about stone chips ect all the time it's been painted to get used and abused

Novalad ( also all of you who seemed to think from just looking at the pictures of how it looked when I first bought it and said this is such a mint Nova ect ect ) the car needed rather a lot of work in the end to get it threw an MOT - Had to redo all of the work you had done on the back archs/sills along with a hole on the inside of the back passanger inner arch - Had to change the steering rack so I could put new track rod ends on along with the ball joints and wheel bearing on the front drivers wheel as it was totally f*cked - The passanger side one is also on it's way out as well lol

Otherwise it passed with flying colours :thumb:

Suprised no one has mentioned the 3 spokes :roll:

Oh yeah almost forgot the rust will soon make it's way back threw the white paint which is what I want lol Just got bored of looking at the colour it was as I had a plan to make it white if I didn't like the first colour which I didn't :p

You will actually be rather suprised how good of a paint job I did by just masking things up rather than taking all the windows ect out

Plus the paint job cost me all of 30quid and belive it or not the paint is very hard to chip lol

Engine is a boring 1.2 waiting for my GSI engine to be rebuilt and put in it - Suspension is just a set of lowering spring ( you will have to ask Novalad what make they are if you want to get really picky because he fitted them before I bought it ) but will be getting changed for a new set of coilovers along with a set of bigger brakes ect

After 12 months the paint will look nice and old with the rusty bits showing threw the white paint - I didn't wish to just leave the car the standerd colour it was because it was to boring for my liking

Sprayed the 3 spokes because wanted to do something that I aint seen done before while I wait for a set of new wheels that tickle my fancy

Have already pointed out that the two plastic bits under the lights are only temp to fill the gap between the lights and bumper

I love there here you can see where the arch has been badly ripped up to clear the tyre. And why does it only have two wheel bolts? That's just unsafe.

I do have mrk 1 front wings and lights but I dont wish to make the car look like a Mrk 1 Nova because it aint it's a Mrk 2 Nova - Also dont quote me on this but am sure it would need a lot more than just the wings and lights for me to be able to make the front look totally like a Mrk 1 Nova on a Mrk 2 Nova shell because it was a lot of work getting the bumper to fit on a Mrk 2 front as it was because for a start the brakets on the Mrk 1 Nova bumper are different than the ones on a Mrk 2 Nova including the holes they go threw - Am sure someone will be able to fill you all in on just how different Mrk 1 Novas and Mrk 2 Novas bodywork are at the front

Also I dont want to follow the flock of sheep by having standerd Mrk 2 front bumper on me car hence going for the Mrk 1 front bumper and keeping the Mrk 2 lights plus the fact I always liked the Mrk 1 front bumpers/grill a lot more than the GSI ones and aint ever seen anyone try it out before so I thought I would - How is that such a crime ? :wtf:

What makes me laugh the most is the fact so many people really dont like someone trying something different to a Nova ( Even though there is still 100s of Novas out there ) rather than doing the same old same old lol and how really bitchy you lot can get some even trying to get personal with there insults lol

Oh yeah just because am doing something different yet again to another Nova dont mean I dont like the shinny clean ones you guys build :thumb:

I actually think this looks pretty good, the thinner mk2 lights with the snowplow give the car an aggressive look, which it wouldn't have with mk1 lights. Its the best thing you have done on the car so far.

Personally I would have the whole car black, and those bits under the lights properly attached and blended into the wings.

First off i've finally taken the door cards off and given them a paint

Then I got the rest of the GSI carpet for inside the boot the bases off the back seats and the black rubber top mount covers out of my old Nova

Along with my sub box a new rear strut brace a half piece bolt in roll cage my old motorbike helmet an umbrella a net and the best buy yet I think which is Rusty the base junky rat - put it all in the back and this is what you get

Then on the outside I made good use of the new stickers that came with this months Fast Car mag by using an old parking ticket I had lieing around ( thanks to the driver in work getting one slapped on the wagon while we was doing a delivery haha )

Now for anyone wondering why I have put just the bases of the back seats in the car it's so when I have my dog in the car with me and someone is sat in the passanger seat I am able to attach his lead to the role cage and he can sit in the back of the car - My dog likes coming to cruises ect more than me plus the women love him
Before all this was fitted I also had to rescue a mates brother and his scooter - Who said you can't fit a scooter in the back of a Nova and here is the videos to prove it haha

A lot of people have actually said how well the Transformer logo on the bonnet works with the front bumper and an awful lot of people have said they think it looks well better with the Mrk 1 bumper/grill rather than the mrk 2 bumper and grill :eek:

Only times i've really been pulled in it is because the colour change hadn't come threw on the log book so they kepts wanting to check it was the right car lol and the time I got pulled and lost my front tints was because i forgot to put my seatbelt on but argued the toss anyway as it was a copper on his own :wtf: - So due to him not been able to prove that he decided to try out there brand new window tint tester ( small village cops with a new toy you can guess the rest ) - Should of just took the fine for the seatbelt and id still have me tints :p

Windscreen well yeah was a bit of an **** the Cops told me I couldn't drive the car home even when I offerd to smash the front screen out put my helmet and goggles on and drive home but got it home ok in the end

It is rusting properly I aint done anything to them lovely standerd rusty back Nova arches - The bonnet is over 2yrs of standing still in a field rusting away ( Ok i sanded the middle down to bare metal to start off with but that's it no unicorn piss used at all lol ) and plenty more on the outside of the bodywork - No forced rust on the Nova just repaired rust for the MOT :p

personally I think it made the back of the car look a lot more cleaner and tidy rather than having it all stripped out - Also was very useful for when female company wished to do it out on the open road rather than the bedroom :thumb: As am sure a lot of you have found out over the years Novas aint the best cars for having sex inside of lol

p.s I also used an umbrella to fill in the gap between the seats and the carpet in the back which also comes in very useful

Maybe initially lol. I like that you are actually taking a different direction to every 'rat' (cba with all the terms) that is out there. Fair play.

It still isn't for me, but as Gt Uncle Mowgli says you can see you have put some thought and time in. Nothing is worse than a scene kid with a chequered roof, white walls, aerial ball and a rusted bonnet lol. I don't 'hate' on those types, I'm just sick to death of them. Total sheep.

It's amazing how much crap you can actually fit into a Nova - I've had my old matt black one filled from front to back full of the ex gf horses junk which was 2 big bins her sadles rugs ect - I've had a double matress plus more crap moving house - Now i've even had a Scooter in the back of this one - Can't do that with most modern cars :d

Oh yeah I plan on sleeping in this car at all the shows I visit next year as I dont belive in sleeping in a tent there to cold lol

Sad news but am sure happy news for a few people :roll:

The car was written off on Monday afternoon after it was involved in a head on crash with a Ford KA :cry: ( went round a sharp left hand bend and while doing so decided to have a sneezing fit which ment i never made it round the bend on my side of the road and the KA was in my way so yes the crash was my fault )

but have no fear am already going to check out another Nova tomorrow :p

As for Vausey_Nova_Knotla question they know if the car has insurance before they even pull you over - They only ask if the car has insurance ect to make sure your details match up to the ones they have


Will sort out pictures of the damage for people to laugh and cry at when I go and pay the 250 quid they are charging me to get the car back from the compound it was sent to while I was on my way to hospital :mad:

Yeah am not to bad just got 8 stiches in my right knee as had a big gash on it that went right down to the bone and cut right threw my muscle - Also have god knows how many stiches inside my mouth and also on the outside where my tooth went threw my mouth and shatterd so now missing two teeth lol

Am more gutted about the car than myself because it wasn't far from complete and the first thing that went threw my head when I seen the KA was f**k the front bumper ! Not to mention the 2yrs of rust on the bonnet which is now f**cked as well :cry:

Ill get pictures of the bend that ive been round over a million times before as it's a local bend i have to use going to work and home from work if you want as it's not a bend you can take any quicker than 20/30mph even though it's a 60mph speed limit plus I aint got a clue how fast the other car was going when we hit but add both speeds together and that works out the total speed of the impact in some wierd siecne way

So overall review on Novas when it comes to them been involved in a crash is they are pretty much like a coke can and crush inwards very easy

Dont worry am looking at a GTE Nova that am half tempted to buy but it's a Mrk 1 and I prefer me Mrk 2 Novas - Also my mate has a spare Mrk 2 Nova so either way am going to be ratting up another Nova before xmas ready for next year just to please people like Mr General Baxter :thumb: Ill also make sure I start a new project thread for you all
