Looks fantastic. I used to dislike the loons aswell but can now appreciate them due to the amount of nice ones popping up. I love the idea of epas on a nova 1 thing I may look into when I do mine.
I think it looks great as it is it doesn't need to go lower IMO. We all used to want are cars on there ****'s but now me and most of my car mates hate the look of a "slammend" car. Would rather something quite low but still handle/drive nicely. I know what I'd prefere between a car that looks low, or a car that drives nicely. I look forward to reading the feature.
Top work that man.

Cheers dude - I wouldnt consider lowering anymore - its bad enough now... its OK, but any lower would make it unbearable - especially as I use it everyday!
Have done some more mincing... Now that I am back at the 'rents - I have access to all my tools and the garage, so much more mincing is possible..
Was sick of losing my damping adjuster from my Avos... lol

love this car lol
Thrown out or Sold at last?
Sold it! So living with my dad with Zoe - she loves it! lol
Ben - yeah - they are the ones that Regal sell for £900 lol They sell them with some random spiggots, but as I have studs, mine are OK....
I need to mil about .001mm from each stud hole to slide them over the studs, but fit well tbh..
Sold it! So living with my dad with Zoe - she loves it! lol
Bet he is loving it! Bet the poor bloke dont know whats hit him, nice peaceful house to...
Loving the adjuster mod..lol

Need it to be drivable!:thumb:
so the saloon is going Let powered then :)
Nah - I only get to work on it on Saturdays! I work in the week and Sundays are booked for the new house - so its a battle! lol
Will have a big push tomorrow though!
corsakid
01-04-11, 11:07 AM
no point pushing if you dont have a clue what your doing! lmfao like a dog chasing his tail, you remind a bit like the local council 'all the gear no idea' but dont worry ill be there! like the hero that i am (maybe i should wear my pants on the outside) should of got it in last week if you didnt spend the the day mincing painting gearboxes etc have you spoke to gareth to book it in to get exhaust mated up? ask him for a flange/sleeve so down pipe etc is removable
Are you on crack?
Annnyyywwaaaayyyy..
A bit more progress today - its a pain in the ass trying to line it up when you're on your own and you have sold mounts!
PS - Engine is a GENUINE 68k monster - I know the car it came out of and have all the paperwork - so I know it should last a bit!
Rocker cover etc is just to get it in - so I dont scratch the newly powder coated one...
Made the box look nice though
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-03-27140859.jpg
Fitted the 'reds

IN!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-02165310.jpg
Spent ages grinding off random mounts that had been welded on the lower panel!?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-02162245.jpg
Loads of room!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-02161012.jpg
Lots of room for the rad and it fits properly - just have the normal issue of the turbo's inlet ramming against the slam panel!lol

The prince of mince has been busy:thumb:
Will, you can paint gearbox's with Halfords spray paint better than anyone i have ever met!
On a side note with the miles you do i thought an F28 would have been a must have!

That F20 will be broken in about a week lol
Looks quality as ever, but an f28, or an sccr is essential!

Top work will, this car deserves a let :p
but an f28, or an sccr is essential!
that is hilarious, a let on a sccr is a waste of time!
I'm guessing Will has one or two f20's lying about lol

I would imagine vauxhall built the F28 so that big cars like the cav/calibra could cruise on motorways, not just to hit 160mph.
So if it's a standard let i cant see why it would NEED an F28, and Will's been around long enough to know what he's doing Matt.:thumb:
Scott
I know what you mean re the F28 - but I cba to cut/re-weld and then paint the engine bay for the new mount....
F20 are OK, as long as you dont run P2+ I am on P1, so SHOULD be OK! lol
I can swap an F20 in about 40 mins anyway on the ramp, so no biggie!
Matt - SCCR?? lol For an everyday smoker!? Would love screaming around at 7000 rpm at 75mph, but I dont think I would want to drive it to work everyday;)

F28 only way to go imo
Yeah - how's yours going btw? lol
She runs! :thumb:
Fired up first turn of the key - I obv made sure that the oil pressure was up etc first by cranking with the ECU disconnected.
Let it run for about ten minutes to cure a few leaky water pipes and then started to fit the charge cooler...
No pics though I'm afraid - still need to wire in the pump and res for the c/cooler and need to do the gear linkage, but then its off to get the exhaust done...
Weather was too nice to be in the garage, otherwise she would be out and driving now!
:)
why you running a cc setup?

because he got it cheap! and he doesnt want to cut the front end about to fit intercooler (basically because hes a keyboard warrior and internet mechanic and doesnt have the kaknow how!) so the less fabrication he has to do the better! and thats the reasoning behind f20 over f28 because of the mount! you know how he drives he'll be eating f20's on a daily basis lmfao, GET IT ON THE ROAD!

You havent got a leg to stand on - if you keep this banter up - I will post pics of your red corsa, that was essentially Halfords/Ripspeed on a set of chav wheels.
Wasnt your FMIC fitted with cable ties? lol
Ben - as Kris said - didnt want to have a FMIC sticking out of the front and I am only running P1, so dont need a huge CC either... its an early Courtney one that I got cheap - so will see what happens...

post pics up! 299.76bhp isnt nothing to be ashamed of especially on a kkk16 hybrid =) ! was a lot better put to gether than this, looked a lot lot better in the engine bay aswell! did mine way back in 2003 when i was 18!
esssentially though you need a much better charge cooler pump to pump the cooling agent around fast etc the rad/heat exchanger for the charge cooler is small so a decent pump is essential, ph1 is still 13-14 psi just with less if no over boost! still requires a decent set up, especially with the mileage you do and your driving style
should of gone f28 aswell not much hassle to fit!

Yeahhhhhhhhh - well if its not efficient enough - I will try something else.
You havent even see my pump - it was used to pump water out of the QE2 so it should be OK.

I have seen in it the box in the Volvo!
wtf is the volvo about anyhow!
wtf is the volvo about anyhow!
It replaced the Combo - £12 each time over the bridge was starting to get on my breasts
I expect it was the first time your old man was intrested in a car you brought home!
Some more mincing means that the gear linkage is done and the chargecooler is all plumbed in - albeit with pikey pipes, but new silicones are on order!
Pre-rad fitted (with fan/rad fixings to the main rad)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16113224.jpg
Finessed the trim I cut for the AFM pipe and fitted a rubber strip to protect the pipe from the slam panel
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16113245.jpg
Water pump fitted - looks a bit pikey - but it seems to go a good job..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16113301.jpg
Spaghetti junction - I will take all pipes off and re-route. I just wanted to test it all first!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16150106.jpg
Took me ages to find a suitable place for the header tank - settled for the bulk head in the end - trimmed the turbo cover (got a new one to go one - so this one's a dummy) will also need to cut the mount flush and tidy the bolt etc - but needed to make sure it all fitted and the bonnet would shut! lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16150020.jpg
Getting there!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-16150123.jpg
Also fitted the GSI sound deadening I bought about 2 years ago to the bulkhead - that was done before the engine went in btw!

There is actually - well as much as there is anywhere else! (not much).
Do you mean with the header tank or with the chassis leg??
meant the tank above the alt, I presumed it was long so dropped down quite a bit.
No dude - its shallow and miles from the alt!
Will get the hoses and clamps sorted next weekend - ordered a load off eBay and they are all the wrong size! lol
So today she went for her first drive! Albeit with the exhaust cable tied to the gear linkage and with no exhaust - it was quite noisy! lol
Seems to go well enough (in first and second) but as I only had pikey hose clamps as soon as it came on boost they all popped off! lol
Also had time to tidy the header tank up...

do nova sleepers exsist anymore? tbh if i see one and its slow i am more suprised!
Very true - its not really a sleeper, but then sleepers dont really exist as Ben says.
Should be quite fun with the phase button pressed! Needless to say that didnt happen in the 5 mins I had driving back and forth in the yard!lol
How long are you back for Ben?
Only spent 2 hours on it yesterday - but managed to get the bits done that I wanted...
Modified the proper top hat cover
Fitted the proper boost hose clamps
Fitted full silicone chargecooler pipes (black)
Flushed the gearbox and filled with fresh fluid

Looks good Will, have you driven it yet?
Not really - drove it around the yard to make sure the clutch and gearbox were OK, its too loud to do any proper miles! lol
Booked in next week for the exhaust, so that will mean I will start piling the miles on!

Some more mincing included fitting a boost gauge - without hacking the dash! (no pics, but I went for the centre console - utilising half an astra GTE dash surround!)
Fitted the TAS top mounts that I have had for months...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-04-26183200.jpg
Also tidied the pipework and fitted the airfilter - wanted to go airbox - but not a chance in hell! lol

you sorted the running probs?
you sorted the running probs?
Sorted the initial smoking - that was a blocked breather...
Now i am experiencing why people moan about lets! lol
I am sure its something silly - but it wont pull away at the moment - much prefers to sit idling! :)
I will sort it - nothing major!
Ok - so I have done around 100 miles so far with it running OK - its boosting properly now and on phase is just silly! lol
Thought I would do the sensible thing and fit one of these:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/2011-05-14144357.jpg
Awful pic, but a charge temp gauge is needed - as I am playing with different coolers at the mo, so need to see what the most the efficient option is...
Also fitted this - as the std xe clutch didnt like the torques!

Just for a bit of fun really (I dont expect the plug cover to last too long! lol) he flocked 2 Gsi door cappings in dark brown and the xe plug cover is in an awesome beige shade!
I dont think they look bad at all!

Nice touch with the flocked spark plug cover. I saw a Corsa over on Mig with the rocker and spark plug cover done and it looked great. A real trick mod. You will need to wear white cotton gloves to just fit that though!
I know - I will probably only fit it for shows, I have an opel one for everyday use lol
love the idea with the spark plug cover, real nice touch
Cheers - yeah, I saw one at the VBOA Spares thingy and thought it would be interesting to see how long it would last with the heat/oil/petrol!
looks good mate, i'm going to do some experimenting with mixing colours to try and get a darker brown. plug cover should be fine, but the colour will be interesting - disposable gloves needed!
Indeed - I dont mind that its lighter, it goes with the dash!

Glad you say you might try get a darker brown, im thinking of asking you (at some point) to do the front/rear door cards in my loon, as there a horrid beige color, an i think flocked will look cool!

May as well post these, seeing as Billing has been cancelled!
Tidied up the bay a bit and fitted a flocked plug cover...
