Following a harmless look on Pistonheads and Ebay last week, i have decided to sell everything Vaux of mine and the plan is to go for a white E30 BMW.

Always wanted one and now its my immediate goal.

That looks very very cool, i've always wanted an E30 but at the moment i can only afford to insure a baby 318 so i'll wait untill im a bit older and can insure a proper one: 325 :thumb:

last summer i had 2 novas and a corsa and was buying a good amount of other novas. 12 months later i found myself selling everything and having 3 beemers so i can sort of see what you're doing.

however, the novas will always be your first love and you will want another...:)

ps. i had an E30 and was always a dream car for me, even though it was such a cool car and i loved driving it every minute i was in it, i really wouldnt recommend one for a daily car tbh.

Stanley

Once the loans paid off though.

Small price to pay IMO.

Childhood dream sorta stuff.

Not too sure there'll be many about, they seem to be getting a less and less common sight on our roads!

Stanley - they are the kind of thing you should buy on condition, but only a minter will resist any form of meaningful depreciation. Are you going to buy a quicker one or make a quicker one over time?

why loan for a car? if you cant afford, you cant afford it.

The ultimate CHAV dream,

Get a loan,

Buy a baseball cap,

Get a E30 BMW,

Drive it round local Mc Donalds car park,

Sell it for half the price paid for it,

Stuck with debt for years,

Job done.

a proper build E30 isnt chav. just like benn's nova isnt chav.

e30 325 convertible FTW

It's not like I dislike e30's, just LOADS of chavs have them or dream of getting one.

Stanley

I must be a chav then!

No i feel like i have a home.

^ Disagree totally. All the chavs seem to drive the later E36's. 316's with lexus lights and either halfords/standard rims boasting jap cans.

They cant be more than a grand, so why bother with a loan for that little.
get a 0% credit card and buy from a trade place :) better win ;)

Im aiming for £2000-2500 for one.

£1000 will get you a bit of a nail TBH.

I have to agree with this actually. The chav favourite is the E36. E30's are fast inheriting classic status.

Stuart

£2.5K!!!!!! you could buy a whole world of better car than that, even if it is your dream car (I could have got my dream car instead of the VX but decided against it as I wouldnt have anything to look forward to in life lol)

but even so, £2.5K is gonna get you a cak rate on a loan, again 0%CC is probably better.

I havent commited to anything yet, so will keep my eyes peeled.

I have my trusty Berlingo for a runabout just nowlol

Im sure, but the 318IS is an 1800 16v with 140bhp. Good engines!

Chances are youre mate had an 1800 8v. Bad engines.

I have the 16v one sat in my E36 318is which is rusting away...trust me- they are very underpowered.
Bomb proof, but underpowered. They need to be revved, but don't like it much.
That was 140BHP when it was new- get it on a rolling road and see what it puts out now- it will be nowhere near it, unless its been really looked after.

Havent driven mine for about 6 months tbh.

You MUST get a 325i sport- any other E30 is a waste of money tbh (with the exception of the motorsport, or of course the M3) , but a mint clean 325i sport is firmly in the classic category

if your going out your way to buy one why a 1.8? m-tech FTW

I just noticed this thread, I've always had a soft spot for the E30's. Had a mooch on ebay this evening, found this... (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250527417303&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015)

I quite like, bet it goes well too.

Stu, You talk of them being a waste of money over price, but then look at the cost of a wonky, badly put together Vauxhall Nova these days. And Edd, yes chavs drive them, but I've seen far more chavs driving round with baseball hats in a Nova

ummm, the 318is is an M-Tech version

I have a 325 sport sat on my drve at the mo that I'm trying to decide to fix or scrap. Unfortunately time isn't my friend at the mo so it's looking mighty like it'll be scrapped :(

if you are paying over £2k for an E30 and dont want to lose money on it, id definetly get a cab, the coupes will only keep their money if theyre an original 325 sport and mint, anything else will be worth below £1k imo.

and lol @ the people saying they're chav cars, this is a nova forum ffs! anything which is a clean example is not considered chav.

but anyway, buy an E30 cab and get a hardtop for the winter. will always be worth money when you come to sell it.

I can't help feel that this thread would have been better suited to a BMW forum.

' I am selling all my Vauxhall shizzle & buying a BM' All you should expect on here is comments of 'so what' or 'sweet'. Wheras on Beemer forum, you should get much more positive replies along the lines of 'buying a proper car atlast' or 'welcome to build quality'!

Vauxhalls really do have a bad image. I have just spent the morning in my new job trying to convince a Ford owning colleague that Vauxhalls arent chavvy. I failed.

do what my mate did, but a e30 325is touring. £800 and 60k from new with fbmwsh. and a huge boot. has all the m tech toys too. far cheaper than a saloon. the 1.8 16v suffers from headgaskets, and oil seals on the timing case, both head off jobs. id buy a 320 manual, avoid autos as they eat them selves.

E30 M3 or don't bother IMO. Non 'M' the E36 is a better car for less money again IMO. I'd also have to agree with the chav and (at the risk of getting flamed) Asian ownership of E30's, agreed the E36's have started to get the same image, but to a lesser extent.

And lol at the drug dealer comments, you'd have to be a **** dealer to be rolling around in a pocket money beemer haha!

Oli, that's the whole wide boy image of old sh1tter E30/36's I don't understand either! It's like seeing a 'dealer' in a P38 Range Rover these days. lol

Not gonna happen! Plus rep.
