looks nice motor, liking the r1 carbs just got a set for my 16xe :p
what are the r1's like for starting in the cold along with the megajolt?

Never had any problems mate - I actually used it in the snow last winter and it was still fine - no carb freeze either.
good stuff, was there any difference between cold starting with the dizzy rather than megajolt?
thats was the only thing im not looking forward to was frozen morning starting the car lol
btw where did you get your trumpets?
it definitely runs smoother with the mj, tbh not really sure on winter starting , i've never had problems with it firing up.
trumpets were custom hobbies from AT race engines - i believe they were originally bike ones - machined down to mate to the r1 original base.

ive seen trumpets on ebay before but none that fir directly onto r1's unless i wanna pay loadsa £££
i gave up looking for off the shelf ones - like you say they're just too silly prices, these weren't cheap but the carbs needed 'finishing off' lol
yeah the rubber ones that are standard are ok but not the prettiest, how are your fixed?
the carb top and trumpet is one piece now - they were both machined to an interference fit - the top just bolts to the carb like the standard one - this kind of shows it
