Ive got a K&N induction kit on my 16 GSi, but i was given it by a mate, the filter looks filthy to say the least, the fins if you know what i mean are bent over on a load of them some of the wire gause stuff is ripped.
Would this affect airflow at all? I have washed it out but still looks crap. Has anyone got any views on this? I was trying to avoid a new one but if it will help i think i may do.
k&N have 1000000 mile warrenty. Phone them up and ask them about it.
give it a dam god wash with some degreaser then u will need some specail spray that holds the dust. ripspeed sell it probly others 2.

K&N said that obviously the warranty would not cover damage like that if the mesh has ripped, anyhow, i dont have the receipt as someone gave it to me.
The did say though that if the fins are bent at all and from the sounds of it they may be damaged you would be better of getting a new one as it can damage the air flow.
I think i would be best off with a new one dont you think? the thing was clogged with mud and all the little pause in the fabric foam type stuff are all probably jammed.
Final answer anyone?
Yeah, probably best to get a new filter. You got the whole filter for free anyway, so it's not like your getting ripped off. I can't see the filter costing that much.

you'll be able to get replacement filters - they aint cheap but last a lifetime - just make sure that its protected - sounds like the other one had some massive impact damage.
Make sure when cleaning you use the proper cleaning fluid - halfords do it.
