Wow blast from my past
Wow blast from my past
Any information on this would be appreciated
So have had my early 20XE rebuilt with fresh rings and shells, obviously has the scalloped crank and forged pistons so should be a strong engine,
Also thinking of using a RX8 six speed gearbox rather than an ancient type 9, thanks to Alex D for the heads up ( basically I'm copying him )
Also had a coil pack head on it and the oil passage sleeved in the head too,
Eventually going to put bodies on it but the sport has the demand of my wallet just now.

Rx8 box in my local scrappy here bet it's cheap Also as there mainly after the metal not the parts
Some comments in this thread sadden me tbh. The guy built this up on his driveway & features some excellent engineering so show a little respect to a machine that in no way deserves to be how it is now.
I bet with the appropriate development time and a little budget, it would handle better than any FWD C20XE.
Have you considered using the running gear from an S2000?
I totally forgot you had this beast. Will be some machine when you get it built back up!
Austin not really around now days , from what I can remember mate the prop was maded by Austin him self , think the reason he took it off the road was it done the box type 9 at pvs 2008 , mk2 escort steering colum and rack , think front shocks were Capri set up, turned in to coil overs by him self , I will see if I can get ahold of him for ya in the week .
The guy is extremely talented, as above was built on a drive way , just look how he figured out how to get pick up on the dizzy, I remember back 2005 ish he took me out in it wow .
As as for a drive train I would possibly look in to a Toyota starlet rear , possibly use a t5 box some how or look at how much work is involved in use in a m3 six speed box like the drifting boys do on the 1jz and 2jz
good luck with with this build I will be keeping a eye on this
Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess.
I'm not going to bother looking at other setups, the cost and time involved to change the full rear end is something that would kill this build before it even starts for me.
Should be a
Thanks for the info mate
I've looking at using group 4 escort front end bits, that's where the money will be spent, rough guide is about 1800 quid in suspension
I guess the biggest benefits for me is that the hard work is all been done and that newer and more specialist parts are now available off the shelf, garages with more advanced geometry measuring setups are more accessible than 10 years ago too so with all that in mind my focus is on suspension and handling more than engine and transmission right now.
If I didn't have the Sport build going on just now I could plough money into this but this one has to play second fiddle for now.

Motor sport tools .Co .UK , or log in to turbo sport and look at the group 4 link , hope this helps

So would that be an rx8 box?
