Don't just buy 45 Weber's over 40's thinking that they will give you more power they DON'T work like that. 40's might work better on your car than 45's. 40 DCOE's come standard with 30mm choke size and you increase the choke to suit your engine.
For example my 1.4 8valve with around 135 bhp needs 40's on 32mm chokes.

I have 45s on my 1.6 16 valve with 34mm chokes. If you over carb the engine you lose some of the ram charging effect given by having higher airflow velocity. Either way though i would go with whatever BF reccommends as he knows his stuff.

As phunky said there is a guy selling some 45s on the PNG facebook page. I have some newman cams i got from Phillip, im rebuilding my engine at the moment as i (think i) spun a bearing and will be fitting the newmans.

Gearbox looks awesome... very very jealous!

Cheers Dave, Phunky & Tom...following up in the Facebook Webers. Phunky...as Tom suggested I'm following a "shopping list" from Bill F but take your point. Will get in touch with Phillip too.

If Carlsberg did Motor clubs, then IDMC would probably be the best motor club in the world.

What might be the benefits of a 1.4 sump on a E16SE engine? I believe Bill F does this but not clear why?

Only think I can think of is ground clearance and ability to bring up the lower part of the exhaust or poss more space for a 4-2-1 manifold

Would be using standard manifold. I wondered if it was baffled differently and therefore some reduction in oil surge?
