it wouldnt be hard to re locate it you will probibly need to extend the wires and the areal lead then make a blanking plate to what ever size gap will be left around the outside of it

some screens can flip out downwards/ upside down; though not sure if that would foul gear stick movement..?

Ive been looking for ages and have never found one that flips downwards, i saw a pink nova at PVS with a flip out headunit in a mk2 dash in it with some sort of fabricated surround, i did get a pic but its very poor, as above re-locate to centre vents is the best bet but it means hacking your dash piping up abit

    no need to relocate:

All you need to do is order a spacer from autoleads (through Halfords is easiest) and then the screen will clear the dash edge (the spacers are cheap and there are a few sizes available so just measure up before you order). That will give you more space at the back of the headunit too as the wiring on dvd players is usually quite bulky. If you like this idea I'll get you the part number for the spacer no probs once you measure how far you will need from the front of the stero space to front of the dash above it...

The good thing about this is that its all reversible to standard later too
