Moneysupermarket usually come up with cheaper quotes than confused. Those are ridiculous though, my first year on a 1.4sri was 1400, you shouldn't have to pay more than that really for a 1ltr.

Christ, it pays to be old.

I guess I have 9 years on you, but I remember paying £1130 on a 1.4 Nova SR at 18.

my first years insurance was £600! 11 years ago though

You really are going to have to hit the phones and ring round, comparison websites are only for lazy people.

Some companies may take it into account and give a small discount though.

My first year on a 1.0 Nova was £700. Got my GSi when I was 19 and that was only £700 as well, still paying nearly that on the bloody thing now at 28. Insurance is really harsh, especially in the North West.

Blimey! My SR at 17/18 was £1400 FC. The R5 about £3.5k or £3.8k something like that

I get mardy nowadays if insurance is more then £400 a year

the job you do can effect the quote you get aswell.i remember some people saying they couldnt get quoted if they were in the motor trade.(even though i though your insurance use to be cheaper)might be worth getting a quote but this time changing the job you do to something like labourer to see if that is whats effecting your premium. definatly take your dad off aswell though if he's in the trade. i found my quotes to be more expensive by a few hundred if i put i was a student instead of my old job as a labourer.

having another person on your insurance can up the premium or bring it down depending on the company. elephant was alot cheaper for me without anyone else listed as a second driver.

also comparison websites are'nt hugely reliable, if you follow the quote up onto the actual site such as norwich union, you'l usually find the quote comes up cheaper if youd just got a quote straight from them. e.g a few times ive clicked on to the quote information screen, selected 3rd party instead, then clicked back to fully comp and the price comes up cheaper than before which was given to me by the comparison site.
