    Default camshaft pulleys

    are 1.2,1.3,1.4 8v camshaft pulleys the same? i.e would i be able to fit a 1.4 pulley on a 1.2 camshaft? cheers

    Assuming you can check no of teeth & check your new belt sits in the teeth, then I see no reason why not. However I have a 1600 8v one here & it has 16 stamped in it.... Just be aware the possibility of it not fitting properly. (badly offset, timing pointers in wrong place etc)

    Early 1200 and 1300 cam belts have square teeth and later 1200, 1400 and 1600 rounded ones.

    i have been reliably informed that you can safely run a square tooth belt on a round tooth pulley, but not a round tooth belt on a square tooth pulley.

    Are you sure of this? It seems highly unlikely. I certainly wouldn't want to try it.

    idealy only really a temporary solution, but the round tooth pulleys are quite deep, but the square tooth ones are shallow, so the square tooth pulley sits in the grooves of the round tooth pulley without touching the internal radius between the teeth too much.
