Without a doubt the deadening, both soft and hard weighs alot, standard seats weigh an awful lot so might be worth swapping them out.Originally Posted by krobinson
But like LLTN says, why remove only the deadening? best to go down one route or another, not try and hover in the middle, either strip it, or fill it full of trim, speakers, sound deadening and comforts.
also 900kg is more than realistic, (I am assuming your XEing it??) as IIRC an XE only weighs 30kilos more than a 1.2 lump, assuming that a GTE engine is roughly the same, the weight of a gte is about 860, so not much else that can add to the weight bar a cage and a brace or 2.

I replaced all the sound deadening in mine with dynamat style stuff. Covered completely everywhere except behind the dash as its a bit tight behind there.Originally Posted by krobinson

They'll be a diff in there next year and I might even leave the subs at home next time if I can bare a bassless ride down!

Tho this might change after I drive it only to find it rattles and bangs worse than before.
Its a 1985 1.2 shell, and i'm fitting a LET and F28, so has a little more weight than an XE nova.

Ahh, i thought you meant the undercarpet sound deadening(those thick mats)
I wouldn't bother refitting any of that tar type sound deadening stuff nope.

all you need to fit keith is a few strips of dynamat stuff, you don need to cover a hole panel. you just need to lay a couple of thin strips on each panel. its amazing what a difference it makes.
kinda like this:-
