Right, are you getting a spark from the coil?
Does the ECU light come on with ignition?

Also, check the cambelt is still in one piece, and the engine is timed correctly.

Read the fault codes out that the ecu's stored.

Wheres Eccleston?, i have an entire spare 1200i engine.

right done a contanuity test on the ht leads and the roatar arm and well..... nothing, cambelt is fine and timming was fine when checked last week, the ecu light does come on when the ignition is on but always has done but when started up goes off, tryed reading the fault codes with the snap on fault diagnostics tester and it spazzed out, so tryed it on the golf and it was fine? so for some reason i cant get a reading off the nova, also there is no spark from the coil,

has any one got a decent roatar arm, set of leads and a coil they would sell and post to me next day as i have a little bit of money in my paypal account

p.s eccleston is about 15-20 minutes south of preston

    Sod the code reader.
Get yourself a paper clip, straighten it out, go under the bonnet next to the wiper motor, undo the plug thats clipped on the firewall.
    It has about 8 wires.
Put a paper clip between pins A and B.
    Leave it in.

Turn ignition on, and count how many times the ecu light flashes.
Each code is repeated three times, the first code you'll get is 12- 1 flash-1second pause-2 flashes=12

No spark from the coil, its either the distributor hall sensor, or the coil itself.
