    Default Best Speakers for fitting in dash?

    Can anyone recommend a decent set of speakers to fit in the corners of the dash above the heater vents (where the factory supplied speakers fit). WE have just got a new set of gsi door cards and don't want to cut a hole in them unless there is no other option?

    Cheers

    Cheers 10cm components, has anyone fitted any 10cm components behind the vents, if you have what is the max mounting depth available and what make/spec of speakers did you fit? Finally, would you recommend them to me based on sound quality db output?

    We really don't want to cut holes in the new gsi door cards if we can obtain decent results from 10cm components hidden behind the dash. For info the headset is an Alpine CVA-1004R, with a planet audio dvd under the dash and an Alpine 6x MP3 Cd changer under the passenger seat, with a couple of 180w 6x9's on the rear shelf and 165w planet audio speakers in the existing gte door cards (these will be for sale with the rest of the gte interior once we have the new behind vent speakers fitted). Amp and sub are next on the wish list, but I need get the new speakers 1st so I can finish fitting the new gsi interior and raise a bit more cash selling the gte interior.

    Many thanks.

    Take a look here for some 10cm speakers. Not sure about the mounting depth, but I fitted these fine.

    Those Pioneer speakers specs look very impressive. Ianiel - I'd like to see how these speakers are fitted and what you have to take off to access fitting them as I want to put speakers in the dash.

    @Iainel:

    Cheers m8, just the info I was after. Those Pioneer's look about the same depth as most others 10cm components on the market so it seems like the majority will fit. I'm off on ebay to buy a set!

    @dannyb:

    Remove the side window verts from the dash to enable access to fit the front speakers in the dash. (See Haynes section 13-51).

    Yeah Haynes should help you to fit them. It's tight and you'll cut your hands to shreds though.

    Dannyb I'll sort you out with some pictures tomorrow when it's light so you can see them mounted in the dash. IMO they fit quite well.
