im just wondering about the rust on my car. can i just use a wire brush to get the flaky stuff off then paint over? wont this seal the rust so it cant get anymore water to rust further? or do i need to bodge over it?

Once the rust is there it`ll come back no matter what. The only way to do it is to cut it out and weld in new metal.

or use rust remover and loads of it!! 10 times or so on light surface rust then a fecking good prime and then your apint will be good too

can you sand it right back to metal? if so do that then apply an anti rust chemical and use anti rust primer.
if you cant get right back to metal ground it out as far as you can then apply anti rust(lots this time) then cataloy it then apply anti rust primer(lots and lots of coats).
chances are though it will come back after a while.
