    14 on a 16 block, i'm listening...

Buy a GTE head and a set of T40s and a good cam. Should give you a good bit of poke. Shouldn't cost a fortune either.
I spent 90% of my money on Drink and Women, the rest I just wasted.

agreed. Dont poke around with 1.4 heads' especially that ebay link - the 1.4 nv is a 60hp thing, no good to u mate..
GTE/GSi head will fit the 1.6 sv bottom end ; twin 40's shud net u more than the 32/34 carb, but ur lookin ?200-?300 for twin 40's... the cam, and i guess some figure around 120bhp shud be possible. But a dear, long winded way if u ask me; plus the f16(??) i think, box is pants , need a close ration jobbie. Its just so much more worth getting a gte/sgie lump and box, its unbelievable.

True, but even a SRI box would do the trick, 120bhp should be safe enough, but idealy a GTE item would be better. But if you're on a budget, 500 quid should see you well on.

your better off starting with a C16SE to be honest...

with a C16SE some 40's and a cam alone wont get you that much more than 120bhp, if that !

Really to release the potential you'l need some decent headwork and a decent exhaust system, right from the manifold.

    however, these are later upgrades.

The 16sv has a f16 wide ratio gearbox as standard.

F13/F16 has nothing to do with the ratios its just an ident for the class of gearbox

the sv engine is shite due to its 1.4sr style cylinder head

to tune it fit a 16se head from a nova gte and stick some 40's on it, or even the original efi manifold if your concerned about fuel economy
