A lot of companies insure a car with an engine conversion as if it were the donor car.... so for a 1600 Merit they'd insure it as if it was a GTE/GSi (assuming thats your donor)

So with that in mind, When I get my engine converted-Im best buying an Astra GTE 16v rather then a Calibra 16v redtop? As the Astra is a few hundred quid cheaper then a calibra to insure. Still loads though!!! :?

yep they're wanting to charge me ?1600 FPTF for my conversion from a 1.2 to a 1.6

they don't insure it as the donor car, as a GSi would be ?1300 TPTF

they insure it as the donor car, with a nice chunk wapped ontop.

Umm they do insure it as doner car mate, mine was insured as a Calibra, little white lie,but it was grp 14 insted of grp 15,also when my papers came through though it was down as..

    Calibra 20.16v/turbo transplant,plus brakes,urate susrension,and exhaust..

I rang them stright away and said its not a turbo, they told me they know its not but they put it in the same class,i said no way,so your telling me if i drop a turbo in it wont be much more then now,she said that right, just the addmin fee to change it all over sir.. :o though fcuk wish i know that before,im with flux..
