    Default Starter not disengaging

    Hi All,

Changed my starter motor a few months back because I thought it was faulty. When starting the engine it would make a noise after getting the engine running like a crunch. Swapped for a smaller option from a Corsa b and this one is even worse. It?s like it?s not switching off. It was fine at 1st but now does it all the time.
It?s on a carb engine so not ecu related but could this be an issue with the ignition switch?
    Any suggestions?

    Richard

Just had this issue it was the ignition barrel was knackered keeping the key jammed in causing the starter to not disengage! Burnt the ignition switch out and wiring to it. Wondered what the f%$k the noise was.

Did you replace the barrel and switch? I fitted a new ignition switch when it was rebuilt around 3 yrs back so surprised if it’s that. But equally it’s the only thing I can think of. I do have an immobiliser connected to the ignition wiring from the alarm unless this is a problem?
