    Default f10/f13 removing unused gears

    Hi all,
as a few people on here know I race stockcars using the tried and tested 1300 Vauxhall lump because I race on a short oval I only use 1st 2nd and reverse and as I'm trying to shave some weight on the car I thought about removing 3rd 4th and 5th, theres a lot of weight in a complete gear cluster and I'm also thinking by lightening the cluster ill also be lightening the load the engine has to turn.
has anyone on here done it before if so is it an easy job ie remove the gears and rebuild or are modifications needed.
    any help gladly received

You'd need to fit a spacer tube on the shaft to take up where 3/4 are and also a spacer for 5th to hold the bearing

is it possible to just delete 5th completely by using a 4 speed end plate, or is it not that simple ?

thanks for all the replies, andy regarding legality id have to double check but I think it is, ive heard a few rumours of other people doing it. garyc I use the cr cluster with a 2.14 second gear and ive yet to come across one that is in a 4 speed cluster ive got a 1.96 wr and a 2.21 cr. now if I could swap the 2.14 gear out of the 5 speed and swap it with the 4 speed wr second gear then remove 3rd and 4th using stuarts idea I would have a super lightweight cluster. might just have a play around in the workshop
