Default best way to get car back to bare metal

    Hi,
Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on getting a car back to bare metal, is it to acid dip or other type of dipping, or sandblast, or is it good old fashion wire brushes and a paint stripper, need opinions on this before I start stripping the sad silk violet gsi to a inch of its life, this one needs a lot of welding .cheers

A way that doesn't get much publicity is to use a small spot shot blaster ( from aldi etc ) and block paving sand.. cheap and you do the bits you need to do as and when you need to. Leaving the old paint to protect the metal. Stripping the whole shell will leave it vulnerable to more rust, and primer actually offers very little protection on its own.
