    Default Nova Mk 2 - F10 5 speed (ish)

so after plenty mucking about taking the f10 4 speed off today, we realised the old corsa F13 was an electronic drive with a pulse coder for the speedo. So without any looking up we put the F13 5 speed gear set into the F10 casing along with the F13 reverse sensor and gear linkage plate bit (technical term), anyone know if this is gonna smash into a thousand pieces when i turn the engine over? gearbox isn't on yet and I'm sort of putting it off.

it might bust the 2 diff gears if you didnt swap that over with the gearset.

if there both the same matching final drive figures - i.e : 3.74 with 3.74 or 3.94 with 3.94, youll prob get away without any exploding

if your not sure what im talking about, its the bottom part of the gearbox that the driveshafts slot into.

Fitting to a 1.4 8v , the spline in the gearbox isn't rotating by hand, any pointers?

its off the car right ?

might be in a high gear, and the resistance is too much to turn. on the top of the gearbox, the selector arm, if you push it all the way in, and then pull it out one click, that should be neutral, and should spin freely.

have you tried turning the diff? or stuck a clutch plate on & tried turning it by hand??

just how old is the f10 casing? the early (up to '85 iirc) ones had slightly different bearings

also, is the 1.4 a carb or mpi engine? (as in from the factory)

Its a J reg , and its running carb, I tried pulling it out once click but still wouldn't spin, the button with the spring for setting the gears won't push in either
