Following Earsham i had a little time to give the paint a going over to get any little imperfections and a good polish.

picked up on some orange peel.

    will get this sorted out.

2nd visit to Adrian Flux spring static,

Following this i had a quick nip to an old haunt of mine back in the day.

Funny enough i went from that to the Dual. personally i like the twin. the issue i had is that i was still running the exhaust from the GSi, sadly when it was ordered it was for a Mk2 and didn't sit right on the mk1 kit.
    Its something different.

Wow. Over a year since the last update. Well following whats gone on this year the last time the car was out was for the OhSoRetro show in 2019. It made no shows this year at all, so its been time to go big on the mods.

So over last Xmas I started to take the 1.6 apart. Gave it a lick of paint along with some of the pipes too. Test fit of the carbs were of course needed before the strip down, picked up on a few bits that would need to be tweaked on the rebuild.

Block certainly needed some love. Nice coat of black enamel paint to refresh it.

Oil pump taken off, cleaned up and a new seal fitted.

Crank then taken out, flywheel and crank taken to be lightened and Balanced although lockdown 2.0 may elongate when I'll see them back.

So while waiting I've put the carbs on to the manifold ready to go on and changed the Cam as well.

So the Nova is currently sat in the garage on axle stands. Only meant to fit new rear flexes.. but again, the steel brake lines don't mate to the flexes. New full lines to be run.

But that did mean crawling around under the car, I then remembered the rear flow flex polybushes for the beam.
Yep, the rear beam is off now...
While its off, I'm sticking a few coats of hammerite to at least give it a bit of protection.

Oh, and I may have spent out on these too...
    Rears fitted at present.

I also thought I'd also treat the car to a nice Richbrook cover as well.

So I'm hoping to have the engine in over Christmas.
Add another coat of waxoyl on the underside. Get it rolling again and get the shocks set up too.

Bit more done with mine. All new brake pipes now made up (by hand) and ready to refit.

Then had a moment to sort out the MOT advisory.. yes the CV boot. All sorted now

Also bought a box of goodies for the front. New bearings and top mounts. Certainly needed the mounts suspect this was causing the crashing and banging.

She looks sweet! Interesting choice of exhaust, don't recall seeing a twin pipe on an MK1 bumper before, and nothing beats a GTE rear bumper. I've been contemplating what exhaust to go for on the LET build as I have a GTE rear bumper too, but that'll be a fair few months down the line.

Do love the metallic grey you've used to the skits, rear bumper lip and spoiler, what colour is it?
