    Default x12xe daily driver nova

anyone put one of these engines into a nova before ?

might be quite good for a daily. there over 10 horse up on the standard carb engine and more fuel efficient. you could probably drive London to Glasgow on a full tank

Standard nova 1.4 sri engine will fit straight in and be a better performance!
1.6 16v's are the way forward!

Difficult takes a day - impossible takes a week!

It needs chassis alterations to the existing mounts if I remember correctly.

My personal view is the x12xe is an awful engine, and a big disappointment (only eclipsed by the 3 pot x10xe which is even worse) - I would prefer a well maintained 12ST any day.

back in the day, there was a nova ad, where a scotsman had a test drive & the point of it was that you could drive form london to scotland on a tankfull

re the x12xe, what is the full spec on it? against a 12st & not one of those nasty spi things

    Cam chain nonsense.
A 1.3 8v would be far better esp wit the irmscher injection system fitted.

I know its not the best engine in the world, and it wasnt designed with performance in mind, but by todays standards the 1.2 carb engine is pretty poor, and the spi is even worse.

im just curious to see from a daily drive point of view, as it probably wouldn't effect insurance much, and fuel economy would have a significant boost id expect. paired with the higher performance and cold weather starting.

as much as I love carbs, there a dying breed these days, and its taken me many years to accept the fact that mpi is the way forward now.

    12ST - 1196cc - 55bhp@5600; 66ftlb@2200
    12NV - 1196cc - 55bhp@5600; 66ftlb@2200

    X12XE - 1199cc - 65bhp@5600; 81lb.ft@4000
    Z12XE - 1199cc - 75bhp@5600; 81lb.ft@4000 (+10bhp due to redesigned inlet and ecu map)

curious to see the weight difference between blocks, if its lighter, would aid handling too.

I think those XE figures are with a cat fitted, so would probably be +3 or so more ontop if fitting to a nova
