Duct tape ftw, you only need something to cover the hole to stop water ingress

Has anyone else welded these up? I nearly broke my wrist using a holesaw to cut little round plates to weld in. Didn't want a hole in the middle so it was f***ing aggressive in the pillar drill

Am I right in thinking Corsas and suchlike also used them too..? Might be worth a few minutes in the local scrapyard.

Get some wood/ply drill that out then take out the center drill bit and clamp ply to steel plate and use ply as a guide in the pillar drill simples

Correct, I pulled several out of Corsas and Astras at the scrapyard. Around the same era are the same, and in some locations aren't covered in underseal and overspray.
