    Default fibreglass bonnet strengthening.

The front part of my bonnet is single skin, so ehen I get over 60mph it starts to lift like so...

I'm after suggestions of how to put some strength in there.

Benn has suggested i fiberglass resign a bit of rope under there. Just one length of rope? Or a couple of lengths crossing over each other?

Anyone got any pics of successful strengthening?

Just put a cross in there. Look at the strengthened ones compared to the unstrengthened ones. Or better still sell it and buy a strengthened one?

What about a central bonnet pin?

Or resin a length of angle carbon fibre in there..?

This is what i would do, or i was going to place a small length of angle alloy on the one i was going to use to stop it from happening, but never did as never fitted the bonnet, im going to sell it now.

Laminate a small diameter hollow tube to the under side of the bonnet.

Belive it or not even a cardboard tube would add strength, probably not enough for youd need mind

Hahaha I love the look of a single skin fibreglass bonnet, nom nom nom

I remember Trackdaynova attempting to resolve this problem on his years back. Ended up trying to fibreglass down the front with something but don't think it worked too well. Bonnet pin would sort it but look queer, I'd be tempted by a strengthened bonnet.

i've seen some strange strengthening done on grp tanks that would appear to be strips of polystyrene that have then been fibreglassed over... weigh feck all, adds rigidity

Iain is right, I had the same problem at TOTB 2008

    http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthr...l=1#post950316

Used gaffer tape to begin with because the Marshalls at the track day were whinging that everyone was going to die because of my bonnet

    So I did this...

Don't do it, it does't work
