    Default 20xe major oil leak

Got a major oil leak on my xe from the cambelt side of the engine and wondered if anyone has had similar problems that could give me any ideas.

It looks to be coming from high up, but cam seals look to be dry, and has also had two sets. The back of the cambelt cover (ie between head & block to backplate) gets lathered in oil running down the back but mostly around bottom pulley area. It's also had 3 front crank seals to date as I thought this was the problem originally. Also had the threaded plugs out the head and resealed them with loctite. Only other thing I can think is it's getting out head gasket, but again this is new when the engine was rebuilt. Oil also collects on top of the engine mount under the thermostat housing.

After cambelt side was stripped off and cleaned and ran up again I had a substantial amount of oil dripped on the floor and was able to watch it drip every few seconds, but this was obviously from the lowest point where it had collected to cause the drip.

At my wits end with it. Thinking of taking the head off to get it pressure tested to see if the leak point can be detected from this, and also going to take sump off and check the mounting face is level and replace gasket with it's third 8v rubber bonded baffle. Any other suggestions welcomed!!

    Cheers
    Ian

I'll check the rocker cover gasket again but didn't seem to be leaking, might replace it though anyway especially if I do take the head off. Will look into the oil pump gasket too, is that the paper one your referring too?

I've seen a friend of mine with an xe corsa where the rocker cover had warped slightly, the gasket peed out behind the timing covers. Have you another rocker cover to try? yeah the oil pump gasket between pump and block.

The rocker cover gasket looked pretty good when we had it running up? You can see most of it behind the pulleys I think?

Could be camshaft o-rings, rocker cover, oil pump o-ring or wher ethe pressure sender is. I'd check them all tbh.
