Default K767 HUA - the next episode

Many may decide not to read this thread as I am not responsible for the build and buying one may, in some eyes, breaks the cardinal rule. Nevertherless, after 18 months of neglect, in my eyes, it will be restored and if at all possible, improved upon.

When i got it delivered by Colin, in all honesty, it had weathered the last 2 years fairly well. I did no more than MOT, Tax and insure it. The plan was to tuck it away for at least 12 months but after taxing it decide to use it a bit and even took it to Billing to be re-united with its previous owner.

Nick was aware that I had got hold of it and has very kindly offered as much advice\help as he could. Cheers Nick.

After billing i've used it a bit, the idea is to assess what needs sorting. The carbs are in need of a strip\clean and re-tune but the run to and from Billing was amazingly smooth.

Things were\are stiff, brakes in particular, steering, gearchanges etc but as i used it a little, have improved. The digidash speedo even started randomly working

I spent the last couple of days under the car cleaning the filth up, pics below. The fitment of Gaz coilovers has caused an issue on the rear chassis
before cleaning - note damage to paint

    after

    dirty wheel inners

    slightly better

Hi Jeff, Glad to see you have a thread up so I can watch the progress you make! As Ive told you previously I was rather dissapointed at its condition after all my efforts over the years. However at least its nothing a damn good clean/polish and general tart up wont sort. Id get the hammer out and tap back where needed so you can fit the coilover springs etc. The arches were painted with hammerite smooth so could easily be minted up again with a few coats by yourself. I'll be watching with anticipation! Looking forward to seeing it next year after you've had some time with it and any help you need feel free to give me a call.

    Nick.

Looks as if she is in good hands, be good to see her back at her best/better, never hankered after a 2.0 16V, but this is one I would have made an exception for!

Nice to see such a well built nova back in good hands

Im amazed that after spending so much cash on a nova the previous owner left it to deteriorate for 2 years outside as well ?

Who is 'redstig' then ? as the user made out he bought it ?
