    Default Project Nova

Many of you may remember me from my Estoril Blue SR build a few years ago.

I've been given a 1.2i non runner in a lovely shade of flame pink. Had a look over it and it seems solid in all the usual area's nova's suffer from.

I've tried getting it running - tried plugs, leads, coil and cleaning all earth's up but nothing so given up (read i want to change the engine ).

Has anyone got or know of anyone in the South London/Croydon area breaking a sri, gte or gsi i can buy the engine, box and loom from?

This will be a slow project as i have little spare time with my two little terror's keeping me busy.

I'll get some pics up asap.

i'm from croydon aswell mate bad times, put a new cam belt on it and do the timing they don't bend valves so your be ok

if not i'm picking up another nova "see other project thread" and i belive it's got a 1.6 8v lump in it, so goes straight on gearbox just have to modify the engine mount, I'll know more tomorrow night and hopefully pick it up monday if your intrested in any bits of it. I can't tell you much as I really don't know much about it till i've seen it.

Give me a shout on here or drop me a pm mate

It was going along the motorway when it snapped so i'll be surprised if it hasn't got any damage, still i'll try a belt first.

Took a few pic's of it, not the best as space is a problem in my garage at the mo...

looks like itll be a good project and yeah it defo wont have done any damage even on the motor way the only way it would damage the valves would be if the valve has come out of its seat take the cam cover off and just make sure all the valves and springs are still there if thay are then itll be right.

Worryingly enough, that cambelt looks quite new. It's normally dead old belts that break, so if I was you I'd have a quick check to see if anything else is wrong (completely knackered water pump??).

Of course it might have been way over-tensioned if it was fitted without moving the water pump in the block.
