first year great, Ollie is a star and sorted me out a reasonable price, renewal is no good though so at this point i shall be cancelling once i have completed ringing around, saved over 70 quid already and havent even started. Its a shame as i hate dicking around but thats the name of the game when it comes to insuring bog standard work hacks

I will say however that i have no problems with them in the slightest and I will always give them first chance

    Hi Dan,

thanks for the kind words.. as you probably know insurance rates are up across the board so almost everyone will see an increase on renewal. Having said that you may find companies who will quote you less than our renewal price, if this is the case please make sure you speak to my renewals team before changing companies.

    Thanks

I do hate this about insurance, "we have gave you the best price" but you get a better one then they say oh ok we will match it, thought you had already given me the best price

I know its not just sky and all companies do it, just really annoying and wastes a day of your life ringing around!

Frustrating but all companies do it, I shop around every year, I actually quite enjoy the challange and it gives me an insight into how our competitors work.

In fairness to Sky, the prices come directly from our underwriters, as we have a lot of buying power we have negotiated a price match service on renewal with our specialist underwriters,

Easy for the underwriters to play games with prices when they're hiding behind a brokers name I guess.

The entire industry could do with looking at tbh, I much prefer the european system where a car is insured, not the person, ok it means scrapping no claims bonus and premiums when you're older are just as expensive as always, but I wouldn't mind paying a midrange price for it when I'm settled/earning if it's always been that much, means no issues with "drive other cars" and just works a whole lot better imo.

Only issue is fast cars get cheaper for new drivers, so more youngsters in overpowered machinery, but it will still be more expensive than a slower car and if they have the money/finance/mum and dad to pay for it anyway they're gonna end up in that car.

The "*tap, crunch* ooh I think I've got whiplash/a bruise/3 fractures and need compensation as my cat is distressed that I'm hobbling on my broken ankle wink wink and they're not gonna argue because the court costs to prove it all are more expensive than the £10k im asking for it" needs to be killed off too.

    Insurance practices/prices are getting ridiculous!

HIC were awful with me, their renewal on the nova TD was something like £1300 with 2yrs ncb, 22, license for 2 years. Best thing was I didn't actually have that 2yrs ncb as I had a claim with me at fault going through with them at the time.

That wouldn't work over here tbh, why should I pay the same as Barry McChav to insure my GT4 when I'm less likely to spin it into a ditch at 180mph upside down whilst on fire?

Yankee style is good in a way as you kinda 'gamble' the value of the car as the main guide for the policy, so if you have a mundane car full of £100K of stereo you can either pay the ins for a value of £100K or you could say £1 and get it cheaper..... but should you lose the lot you only get the quid back. It means no need to declare mods, you just take the gamble with your payout. Which in turn 'should' mean more of the unsalubrious insure their cars as they can fo cheaps.

And the punishment for no insurance should be thousands of hours community service/MASSIVE fine/Legs broken etc. That would be a good deterrant rather than just a slap on the writs and a fine that is less than the insurance would have been

well my day is done following my original post above. First off a big thanks to sky insurance yet again. I am aware of the general price increase so that is always taken on board every year when it comes renewal time. Sky's customer service has done them proud yet again, I have just spoken to Cassy (very nice lady) and as good to Ollie's word a price was sorted that i am happy with, so thank you very much and thanks for Ollie's continued support/input of which, as proven again, is very helpful

Thanks Dan, I just spoke to Cassie about this and she said you had renewed.

She also put this note in the comment box on your file..:

    Thanks for the feedback Dan
