    Default Testing Fan Switch

    Bought a multimeter today to test a few things out on my dads Cav as the fan won't come on.

    I removed the fan switch to test by having a container with cold water and another container with boiling water and to test to see if the reading changes. What do I need to set the multimeter to for me to test the readings (really can't remember )?

    So set the multimeter to ohms, positive probe to brown wire and black probe to brown/white wire. check resistance in cold water then hot?

    (fan swicth is off the car)

    yup, when cold it should read very high, and when warm, it should read very close to zero

    just remember not to get caught by your mum as you lower it into the kettle, as I did

    Tested the sensor and the fan switch showed .585 ohms when cold & .280 when at boiling point.

    We also tested the CTS and that came up .45 when cold & 0.03 when boiling point.
