    Default ****y vauxhall alarm! grrrrr

my folks have got a 2001 astra, and alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason! it seems to have two tones of alarm, one sounds like the horn, and the other is a piddly girly alarm noise! its driving us mental, anyone know if they have any common faults?

car starts up fine, and it locks and unlocks fine with the key/fob thingy.
i guess a corroded boot switch or bonnet switch could be triggering it?

remove it, an 8 year old astra is not exactly on nicolas cages gone in 60 seconds list, & everyone just thinks 'oh a car alarm is going off, now pass the remote, I'll put the volume up'

    Someone trying to steal it

Battery, dodgy earth or is there a sensor near one of the windows that could get a draft if it's a bad seal?
