They meet on the lip. Thats why grinder them breaks the seal and they rust worse.
If you can get a *cant remember name* tool it makes a lip on the edge of the pannel, so you over lap them but they sit in the lip so they still lay flat.

That'll be fun, drilling out spot welds from a rusted, filled and rolled arch!Originally Posted by Benn
Don't bother then, just cut it off and then create another lip with some more steel to over lap the two?

Thanks all, I'm having at least an attempt at everything so we'll see what it turns out like
Today's carnage/weight saving:
Cross brace removed to make way for seat rails:
Got to grips with spot weld drilling now:
Well, almost. These ones are so thick they're a real pain to get off without damaging the wafer thin floor!
Fixing my mess:
Rust treated (as it had all rusted where it meets the floor!) and etch primered:
Bit of filler on the exhaust tunnel where the grinder touched the floor:
Rear seat brackets smoothed (again, welding the rear chassis legs cracked most of it off ):
Smoothed rear seatbelt holes is hopefully a unique touch:
Started smoothing the slam panel where I welded in new plates. It won't look factory (they have a little drainage hole under where the wing meets it) but it'll look neat:
Aerial fully smoothed off and finished:
Dent in the door fixed, needs a bit more work in the middle but almost sorted:
i love you iain
What about the car you gay?
Getting there mate, starting to shape up.

You spend so much time making it lighter and then put filler into it.

Love you gayboy.
