    Yea, buy some clamps chap.

Spring to the head will result in either instant death, mega pain and definetly severve fcuked up face'ige! Ive seen a coilover spring go straight through a breeze block wall, defiently buy some clamps.

    1. take the centre nut off the strut
    2. jack the car up slowly
    3. leave the topmount on the car and take off the shock
    4. take the spring out
    5. put the new one in
    6. put the shock and spring arangement on the car
    7. let the car down till the shock goes through the top mount
    8. tighten the centre nut

Someone had to come up with a way of making a relatively small job a pain in the **** and dangerous in the aid of saving about a tenner.

Sounds like it may work but I wouldn't try it myself.

even if you do have spring compressors, following steps 1 and 2 still make the job easier and safer because theres no chance of the spring hitting your face because the shock is still in the middle of the spring. by the time the spring can come out from under the arch the spring is decompressed.plus youve then redused the risk of hurting yourself with the compressors.

sure, youll get them off, but good luck getting them on without using more than £12 worth of time frustration, knuckle skin and tears.
