Dirty diesel clocks in a mk1

Bought a mk1 with 1.7td on oe clocks as was a 1.2
I had figured binning and going back to petrol as has f18 box but I'm warming to the oily side and thinking of diesel. Clocks.
Seems only dervs were mk2 big job wiring fitting in mk1 if...... I can find any
