A few Anti Lag Videos to test ya eardrums
-
50/50, some of those owners IMO only have it fitted for annoying people, there is no real need for it at all on a road car.
On a BIG turboed 4 wheel drive car I can see many reasons for wanting it.
It does sound awesome though, I just hope all those people with it have suitable turbos to be using it with as they wont last long if not
-
Can't ya do this on a nova? or so i have heard
-
if its a big power LET then maybe, but no point IMHO
-
Using certain ecu's yes you can do this to any turbo engine.
However the turbo needs to be the correct type, and no standard car comes with one so you either risk it or shell out for Inconel shaft for your turbo, which I think are still only available for certain turbos, KKK's not being one of them but I could be wrong.

Only Lee Mitchum and Gaskell have ever successfully done it.

Was going to do it to the corsa but im concentrating on trying to get it to run first lol. I was going to do it a completely different way to what its normally done, hardware wise anyway. Should be less destructive on the turbo, probably wont be but have to try things.
-
not clever IMO.
Last one (the saph Cossie) is hilarious, I can imagine my mum going nutts if that was her plant/bush.
-
sorry but what is anti-lag?
-
Also all you people with carb novas you can do the ol switch the ignition key on an off for no money. Now thats class.

pretty much what it suggest really, its keeps the turbo spooling and boost up in the basic terms.

its where fuel is still injected, without being ignited, after the throttle plate has closed
the fuel then ignites in the manifold or turbo housing, and the gas produce keeps the turbo spinning, thus creating boost, whilst off throttle
therefore eliminating lag!
-
I dont get lag with my electric supercharger, it always spins at a steady 300 million rpm and keeps me in negative boost.
-
^^^^ pmsl lol but yeah stu has it spack on thats what the poping noise is the unignited fuel igniting in the exhaust
-
alrite cheers for that, whats that carb thing phil?
-
drive down the road, turn the ignition off let it run through in gear for a good few seconds. Then turn it back, BANG you get some well trick flames out the back and lots of street cred.

Were you smoking crack whilst you made that statement lol
Who the **** is this Lee Mitchum fella as he seems to be the god behind novas
Plenty of people have used it and many more certainly have an ecu capable of running it, as I originally said, to use it properly you DO need a iconel shafted turbo or its going to end in tears at some point.
Phil, tbh its best not to try an be too different, the way anti lag works is quite simple and it doesn't require much more than a modded iscv and throttle body and a suitable ecu to get some proper gains.
Are you on a GT30 ?
Your using megasquirt yeh ? does that have a anti lag facility, if so make use of it mate although tbh as you use it nitrous is the best form of anti lag and it won't **** everything in the process :p
Looking forward to seeing the car out doing the times it should be :thumb:

Oh dear god, I can't believe you admitted to that, how old are you lol
-
LMFAO, everyone has done it you cant deny it

Also I dont reckon i'll be going to antilag route, talked myself out of it for now. The nitrous does it job to be honest, so i'll be staying with that. Not sure if its going to be ready this year as I dont get much time to work on it now after ive changed jobs. Either way I look forward to blowing it up while mapping it lol

It mite be gay or chavvy but i am going to try it tonight lol .. i have done it on my moped in the past lol
-
Its really not that cool, you look a right tool driving road with half your exhaust baffles hanging out lol

vid please lol im tempted but i dont want to break any think ill do it whilst driving past german students haha :thumb:
-
Possibly a good choice there Phil, I honestly can't see the gains on a fwd car, launch control however with real tyres and a bar of boost on the line IS the way forward ;)
PMSL @ the baffles comment, says the man who has a Corsa with a fook off Griffin plastered on both sides and a screamer pipe LOL ;) Good work that man, your locals must ****ing love you
-
mine sounds like a gun, i tried it today, its sad, but amusing when going past cyclists..
-
Mine did it but didn't have anyone behind me to see if it flamed.
-
mine's downswept, so pointless even if it does flame although REALLY loud, possibly something to do with not having a cat.
-
-
My mate said it was spitting out smoke lol... allthough the car had just been started up after a night in the cold.
-
bet your car loves you, at least i let mine warm up.
-
I was in a Lancer Rally-Car with Anti-Lag and you can barely hear it from the inside, I was gutted
But from the outside its proper loud :)
-
quality, surely the anti lag exhaust keeping the boost up is just doing the same job a dump valve does (gets prepared to be decimatied)
-
Nope not really, the dump valve will release pressure / air that would normally go back through the turbo stalling it or slowing it down, where as anti lag is putting energy into the turbo to keep it spinning.
One puts energy into the turbo in a sense an the other just reduces the amount that might be lost.
-
ah im with you, sorry for the noob comment, what if you had both? or would that be worse than having neither?
-
If you have anti lag you'd need some form of dump valve, or throttle bypass device. If you use anti lag to keep the turbo spinning against a closed throttle without any way of the boost escaping you'd very very quickly break your turbo lol
As Phil said, a dump valve opens when the throttle closes. Without one, the air from the turbo hits a closed throttle plate and bounces back to the turbo fan blades, stalling it. A dump valve opens at this point to allow the air to escape instead of hitting the turbo blades.
"Wastegate chatter" is the noise of air hitting a stalling turbo. Sounds cool, but not good for turbos.

check this one out its my mate Paul Restal of casear car audio, n his number plate is G** LAG how cool, its had more work since then and is rapid!! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7dFcMA9AKTI
