just wondered if anyone has got insured on one at 17, or what would prices be at 18/19 with few years no claims?
well at 17yrs old you aint getting insured on a 2lr nova ! but after 2years no claims i got a quote for ?1500 with first quote direct...
Even 18/19 its expensive.
I got a quote, aged 20, 3yrs NCB, for about ?850
plus its an XE tard :p
isnt there no chance of a 17 year old getting insured...
oh there is if you like paying over ?6K for just third party lol
6k...17 and around 1.5/2k when your 18 so how you manage that mate....
its 3.5k full comp on a escort rs turbo with mods declaired, i reckon if i found a company who would insure on me my own (not parents) then it would be about 3k i would think 3rd party......
3k for me 18 ect ect.. at the of th day its a nova, and i aint payin 3k to insure a K reg nova.. ?850 for a 1.6 T40 will do me
when your 17 whats the point in owning a 2.0l nova anyway its a waist of money when you can have nearly as much fun in a 1.3-1.4sr and not pay out the ass for it!
OK what are you even thinking about an xe nova at 17 ffs...
Try just gettng at least two yrs ncb and in that time get a shell and prep it ready for what you want to do to it etc..till the xe is compleat just drive a 1.0 or 1.2 like all the other 17yr olds...just stop and think about it.

I loved both my sr and sri, it handled so well and not one of my mates cars could keep up with it.
Was gutted now that ive sold it
you will be best with a smaller engine car to run around in and get used to becasue your bound to have a small bump or a big one in your first year or two of driving, then atleast it wont be a mojr disastor on all the money you have spent,
a freind of mine is 19, he currently drives a escort cosworth. now to be fair it isnt on his own policy as his dad owns a garage so he is on the garages traders policy, but he has had a quote on that for around 4.5k and he lives in a low risk postcode area and has a garage too with a years no claims. so i would expect to be paying around that mark..
the nova price will go up due to a few things....
number 1 is a big iffy in insurance.... ENGINE CONVERSIONS, purely that on its own sends it flying.
number 2... your young, instantly up again
and number 3,, its a nova. notoriously known for boy racers and high car at risk to be stolen due to how easy they are to steal.
hope thast helped :D
At 19 (3years ago) I was paying 700

At 17 an XEd nova will not only be very very expensive to insure and expensive run the driver will not be experienced enough. 17 year olds manage to crash 1.0 and 1.2s all the time so i think 160 bhp of red top power would be suicidal! Im not even considering an engine up grade untill next year when i will have (touch wood) 2 years NCB and a pass plus when it might just be possible.
Wouldn't even bother mate, as already mentioned get a 1.3SR, ins group 5 and 0-60 in 10 secs, plenty fast enough for a 17 year old, I'm 19 and have a 1.4 SR and I find it quick enough for me.You've got another 40 years (if you're lucky) of messing with fast cars.
ive already had a sri with about 90/100bhp and yes it was pretti fun to drive but, the only thing im worried about is fuel and herd how much they spin....if the power aint down then there ****e!!
well looking for a 1.0 up to a sri, and doing that up everytime i get a bit of money in my pocket!
so i will be driving it, while modifiying it and rebuilding an xe engine!!
Ah right, apologies dude, I should take more notice of usernames lol
I've already spun my SR it's far too easy, lift off oversteer = **** scary lol
SRI_boy, do what i'm doing, insure a 1.2 and drive round in that till i can afford the 2.0 insurance. In the mean time start to rebuild a C20XE and by the time u can afford the insurance the engine should be rebuilt
My first car at 17 was an XE nova!! Never had an accident in my life that was my fault!! TOUCH WOOD!!
Its your choice mate! If you wanna do it, do it. But just be careful!!
How the hell did you insure that, or did you take gaskels advice that only ****s declare mods???
matt_mph - yer thats what i said on the other page, think im going to do that! as fuel bill will kill me.
bhpnos - obviously it was down on logbooks as smaller engine...
and to stu....im still thinking about it, just have to see how it goes in time, eg getting a nova, engine, welded, fitted etc
:)
fuel bill is less than any other nova!!!
More power less weight = better MPG
so what about normal driving in a 1.2 nova and same with a xe nova
what mpg?
Xe will be better mpg, as it has more power to pull the weight of the car.
Ive "Heard" as much as 40+ MPG
Yeah, couple of people have said 40+ to me as well.
Higher cost of insurance and tax though, would your fuel bill really be your biggest worry? I'll be XE-ing the saloon, and thats just as an "economical" runabout lol
well im 19 and i only pay ?450 for my 1.4sr. as ive only has this car for a few weeks and is much slower than my last car im planning on getting used to the non powersteering and having some fun b4 i think about serious power.altho 1500 aint bad at 19 for an xe nova, considering its scooby performance!
...until you get to a corner that is lolQuote:
