...is bloody hard work!!
Just gone to work in my nova for the first time and:
New engine time I think!!!
- It took bloody ages
- Its noisy
- Used loads of fuel due to me having to keep the accelerator all the way down to keep a reasonable speed!
- The carb keeps icing :mad:
same here! Ive got a fudged 1400 in mine so its either sell up (which is proly what ill do) or go 1600 GSi

it usesmore petrol than the xe nova
like I say with cars under a 1.4 there is either accelerator on or off lol. I mean the only way to drive them basically is either fully down (when moving) or up (stationary) lol. The acceleration is basically non existant in 5th lol lol took me about 3 mins to get from 65ish to about 70 lol
Ahh. I can just sit back & relax in the TD. Its torque heaven. Last night I whooped an XR2i up a long uphill stretch of dual carriageway. Just think of the economy of my new beast too.
I got 190 miles from ?15 of diesel-juice over the weekend. Not driving it lightly at the mo either...
I would have loved for this car to be a TD as where I work is shutting down and relocating to 50 miles away, so will cost a fortune in fuel. TD is the way to go I think!
TD hell yeah!! With the advancements of modern TD engines they dont half shift a bit too!

On Alex's Polo, the accellerator is just an Engine Volume Switch... press it down and the engine goes vrrrRRRRRRR. Car doesn't go any faster mind you lol
lmao jack, it was a bit like that this morning, then the carb started icing lol and so the 70mph soon turned into 50mph, revved the nads off it and it seemed to help a bit. Think I'm gonna rig up some warm air feed type thing somehow.

gutted my 1.0 is sound i dont rag it so i dont use much fuel 50 mpg you cant beat that for a petrol!!:thumb:
i had a 1.2i and it went really well for the size of the engine. would happily sit at 80 on the motorway and would acclerate to 90+ if necessary. got it with 65,000 on the clock, sold it 95,000 and the engine was running better then, than when i bought it. Shame the bodywork disappeared :(
Andy, there is a warm air feed. Look at the back of the airbox, losen the nut and shift it to the centre postion, retighten and no carb icing problems.
