New bodyshell at bodyshop - Nova Sport rebuild begins
-
was that a road going car at one point? i bet thats costing a fair few pennies to do if it was! looking good!
-
that is sweet m8, when do ya think ull have it finished by?
-
-
Was a brand new Mk1 bodyshell that has been stored for about 12 years, it had been painted but badly and never got used.
There are no floor numbers and there was no rust :), didn't need any welding but put in some plates for a 6 point cage and a Harry Hockley plating kit.
Had this done as I couldn't be ****d to rub down the sh!t paint job and it would make sure there was no corrosion anywhere like in the seams & box sections.

Had it etch primed first but I wasn't happy with it so they dipped it again then E-coated it. I'm happy now!

Sorry didn't get back to you, phone keeps losing signal!
Wanted to go today but had to get the house sorted before the missus got back from her sisters!
-
What's the score with an older shell !?
I presume you need to have a close-to-new shell as possible, otherwise half of it will be missing when it's Dipped ?

Think the guy paid about ?1250 in the early nineties, dont know what that would amout to today with inflation an all that.
Wish I had bought a few from my dealer back then, would be the most popular guy aroundlol

Seen a few other older cars there, they usually come out looking like teabags! Even then its a good starting point so you can fit panels to clean metal and repair minor corrosion without the fear of it coming back.
They do new stuff aswell for 888, RML & Prodrive etc. Gives them a shell free of the unwanted heavy sealer & soundproofing etc.
-
hmm, might look into getting it done. my shell is pretty good, just has 15 years of wear though !
I plan a Full on rebuild soon anyway !
-
How much you looking at to get a shell dipped & coated ?
Rich
-
Posted some approx Prices on JOV, IIRC it was the best part of 1k to have it primed too !?
-
Looking good rich mate cant wait to see this done :D
my next project wil be geting this process done lol
keep up the good work,
Martin
