Lol @ the cars 2 inches of fame in TV...
Things are getting better and better with small tweaks to the car.
Felt really good at the pod, but lauches were still a nightmare with it spinning up the 14's. Mind you, it was dounuting like a beauty with the ultra soft rear springs; normally it just skips around with the 200lb ones.
Still a bit scruffy here and there but hey... Got some new polycarbs in there and looking to sort out the arches soon aswell as a lighter front..
austin you do the spaceframe by yourself i will need you to come round one day to sort out a fibreglass front
Austin mate every time i look at your car i still keep thinking your a turely mad genius!
Scott
those pics saved in my "Cars of Lovelyness" folder lol
Awesome! Truly
So much time for this car :D
Stunning piece of engenring :D
That is what i call Perfect
I WANT 1 NOW! lol
chris
Truly remarkable.
wot rear axel did you use?
Austin you menatlist
Did this used to be the red 1.3sr with the XE lump you used to go about in back in the RB days?
Haven't seen you in about 4 years
I didn't get a chance to look at the car in detail at PV (too many people crowding round it, lol). It's good to see those pics and realise how much work went into doing it. Fair play to you Austin.
Jim
I still haven't seen this one in the flesh, so to speak. It just goes to show what you can do if you just get on and get it done.
You deserve respect for building that Ausin.
I would guess that your using the same running gear as the Mk1&2 escorts that run the XE's
madness! i want one of those! 8)
could prolly use cut tdown sierra rwd running gear in a custom transmission tunnel with some form of lairy gearbox! :|
have got any piccys of an doughnuts in thislittle beastie
From the pictures it looks like an escort rear axle but dont quote me on that. How have you linked up the rear. Cant see any trailing arms from these pictures but the axle does look welded to something?
from what i can remember its a mk2 rear axle, sierras have really gay rear axles compared the old escorts
Its an escort axle...good for sideways, but also improved cornering due to using a 5-link set-up. All home made may I add...
Still loving the car, although I've got the bug to go bigger and better,so really want to start something new soon.
Gunna sort out some arches and front end once i've got some cash, as a respray may be on the cards.
Really is well dangerous in the wet...3rd gear sideways is a little fruity to say the least, but well fun!
As dar says, running a bellhousing adaptor, type9 and a manta sump. Thats about it really.
Cheers for your comments once again peeps!
