Although they are kind of enclosed on F1 cars
I'm never too keen on stuff like that, one stray spark or some fuel goes a little astray and... yikes. I prefer to keep my petrol inside the engine!
i don't like the look of that, surely something like this shouldn't be allowed on road or track ?

Odds on due to the 11K revving it needs the fuel injecting a LONG way from the valve to ensure it mixes.... Granted the way its been done in the vid is a bodge and there are better ways to do it lol
Misting injectors as per F1 vid rather than a water gun would be a startlolQuote:

true, although if i put *sarcastic* it would kill it.
Never mind, hollywood's still a dangerous place to be,cigs cause explosions bigger than nuclear bombs, and skylines have scania gearboxes fitted lol
Lets edit out our tracks lol
edits: doesn't work if you don't join in :( lol
it is physically impossible for a ciggy to ignite petrol, the flash point is higher than tobacco burns at... blame the movies for the errorQuote:

you can also drop a match in liquid petrol and it wont (shouldnt) light :)
the best arson device was a lit cigarette held vertically, with a load of matches taped round it, in a small plastic container with some petrol in, with some paper to hold it all in...... there will be no forensic evidence left, the container will melt because of the petrol, leaving a pool of accelerant, and when the cigarette lights the matches, it goes up really quick......
of course the smoking ban has made this device a bit redundant... as you will get caught just by the smoke.....
But the vapours on top will surely? petrol definitely goes up nicely when you drop a lit match on it, my aunt nearly lost her eyebrows with sketchy bonfire antics lolQuote:

In regards to lighting petrol with a match... I lit the fire in my living room about an hour ago, wouldn't catch so I splashed a little petrol on the logs and they lit up first time with a match.
Unless if something absorbs petrol it ignites differently?
So in a theoretical perfect environment it doesn't go up but for any practical applications you lose your eyebrows lolQuote:

Is that the motor for your space frame project Ste?
Where your secondary fuel rail and injectors are positioned, won't have the same amount as atomisation as the one featured in the video.
Yeah its mine.
Your right at the posisition of the injectors, i would also expect some wet wlling in this position.
Im thinking about moving them but other things need to be done first.
What ever way you look at it i wouldn't feel comfortable working on or close to that engine while it was running with a cigarette alight in my mouth lol
Surley there has to be a better way to do that?
the YBT can run 8 injectors enclosed, fair enough it's not on boddies but surley with some skill it can be done better?
Just what I thought!Quote:
