What are the implications insurance wise for this offence?
Overtaking while crossing a solid white line.

if you are overtaking a slow vehicle capable of less than 20mph, ie milk float, tractor, or a stationary vehicle, then you are legal. i'm guessing careless..
It was on the A75, massive cue of traffic behind me off the ferry, car in front fluctuating from 20-50mph.
The audi that did a 5car overtake over solid whites before me didnt get pulled however!
trouble is that you'll lose more money by going to court to argue it out...
what paperwork have you got from the rozzers?
also, your car doesn't exist..cough cough...
I'd need the offence code to answer from Sky's perspective.
I got stopped for it before but just got a warning as the copper was 300yards infront of me parked up just as it started i pulled in so it was borderline anyway but im pretty sure he said it was careless driving

You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.

Nay, the only moving vehicle you can cross or straddle double whites to pass is a "road maintenance vehicle when in use" thats moving at <=10mph. Or a pushbike or horse, again both of which have to be going <=10mph.Quote:

A75...the stretch from stranrear to castle douglas or further? police would do you for breathing fresh air down here, bit off the subject but drive through castle douglas one night soon and you wont see a soul out cause the police have done them all! a golf infront of me doing 110mph (a friend) and me behing doing 73 in the td...we both get caught, guess who is the one that gets caught....and no its not a happy ending!
i have to cross double white lines every day its in a 60limit and everybody does it and nobody gets done.
Most insuers would view this as a minor offence so the insurance implications are not severe. Of course it can depend on the insurer.
My TS10 (contravening traffic signal) has affected my insurance by more than I expected TBH! It's over 3 years old now and was only 3 points and a £60 fine.
i still think the whole "car doesnt exist" thing is a loophole....

everytime i go on the a75 i'm always stuck in a never ending queue of artics off the ferry. pain in the **** to overtake aswell cos they all drive so close to each other. overtaking several at once ftw.
actually last time i was dwon that way was stuck in a queue behind at least 100 vespas doing a run!!! 30mph uphill!!
